Can you try to ssh to the machine from another one to see what is locked? I'd rather believe what you see is a kernel bug or an X driver issue. Some things to test: - test your memory with memtest!! - test your harddisk with smart - check that your system is not overheating (broken fan on CPU, graphics card or motherboard) - use the open source driver for your graphics card instead of the binary one (if you happen to use the binary one). - turn off DMA for your hard disks (the system will be slow, but just for sure) - unplug all your external devices - test that it really hanged (try killing X, switching to another console, ssh to the machine, etc.) If one of the above solves the hangs, then it is possible to find what is the problem, but with the information you gave, it is impossible. [opensuse-factory] Random hangup
While using konqueror on suse10.2rc1 and attempting to login to a website, the system just hung! I have the same phenomenon on suse10.1 and hoped that this would not happen anymore on suse10.2. It is actually on 2 different systems. It's very annoying that these hangups happen. I have no debug data, so it is hard to so what is causing this.
