[Openvas-discuss] openvassd.messages - Client closed the communication

2017-04-02 Thread TN TN
Hi all, I'm running openvas9 the latest stable version and I'm running
everything on one server manager, scanner, gsad, etc.. After I run scans
for a few days the scanners stop working and the task goes Requested to
stop. In my log file openvassd.messages I see the following error (Client
closed the communication). Does anyone know why I might be getting this
error? Thanks T

Hi,

When we try to run the command greenbone-scapdata-sync on any OpenVAS9
installation the process hangs @ the following location.

Is there an update to the script that fixes this error? Thanks TN

[Openvas-discuss] OMP Slave Setup on Openvas9

Hi all, another issue I'm having is setting up an OMP slave. I see the
feature has been moved under the Scanners now, but when i setup the OMP
slave and do the (checkmark test). It comes back with an error, and I dont
see any packets leaving the master server heading to the slave server when
I do the "checkmark" (verify scanner test) through the greenbone GUI. Any
ideas?? Thanks TN

[Openvas-discuss] Updating NVT's and openvasmd with the new NVTs

2017-01-10 Thread TN TN
Hi all, whats the proper process to update the NVTs without interrupting
any ongoing scans in OpenVAS9. I'm thinking its the following, but trying
to confirm.

# Make sure the opevassd (openvas scanner) process is running and issue the
command:
greenbone-nvt-sync

# Make sure the openvasmd (openvas manager) process is running and issue
the command
openvasmd --rebuild --progress

The question is, will this process interrupt the current scans running, if
not, is it the most efficient way to upgrade NVTs? Thanks, TN

[Openvas-discuss] Admin Role (restrictions) & Privileges

2016-05-14 Thread TN TN
Hi all, when I create two users and assign them an Admin role, lets name
them admin1 and admin2 they can see each others username under
Administration -> Users (in GSA). What privileges can I set to avoid having
the admins see eachothers username? What if I create a new Role similar to
the Admin role, what privileges would I need to assign it to avoid the
above scenario? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, T

[Openvas-discuss] Global Target localhost (undo)

2016-05-10 Thread TN TN
Hi,

How can we make the localhost a non-global target. It seems like any user
we create has the localhost in their target list? How can we make it so the
localhost does not appear. Thanks - T

[Openvas-discuss] Distribute Scans among multi scanners

2016-05-01 Thread TN TN
Hi,

I accidentally wrote "scammers" in my previous post last month, apologies
for the mistake.

If we setup more than one OpenVAS scanner how can we load-balance the
different scans to use 2 or more scanners? Is it an automatic process (when
the one scanner fills up with requests, the other will take over)? Not sure
how to distribute the load between 2+ scanners. Can someone please help.
Thanks -T

Re: [Openvas-discuss] Making Web Credentials available to normal users

2016-04-27 Thread TN TN
Hi Micha,

Thanks for the prompt response.

The reason I'd like to have this feature is that if a site is password
protected from the homepage, the scanner cannot scan the entire site/pages
beyond the login page if authentication credentials are not provided.
Thanks - T

[Openvas-discuss] Making Web Credentials available to normal users

2016-04-26 Thread TN TN
 Hi all,

I posted this on the development board and thought it might be something
that can be answered here.

Is it possible to allow a user to enter website credentials to a password
protected site. Currently it seems like there is an option in the Scan
configs, but normal users dont have access to the Scan configs. SSH and
other credentials are available to users, but I cannot find a way to allow
a user to enter the credentials. If this doesnt currently exist is it on
the roadmap? Thanks - T

[Openvas-discuss] Group Permissions Options

2016-04-25 Thread TN TN
Hi everyone,

How can I make users of the same group share their reports, schedules,
assets, etc? Is there something I can do on the permissions end to allow
it. I'd like it to be Global so any new group created inherits this setting
for its users. Thanks - T

Re: [Openvas-discuss] Location of XML file used to generate PDF report

2016-04-11 Thread TN TN
Hi Matthew,

Thanks for the prompt reply. Can you point me in the right direction on
what I should be looking at with a link to a site?? A google search for
"notes feature for annotating results openvas" and variations of that are
not coming up with any useful links.

Thanks again - T

Re: [Openvas-discuss] Location of XML file used to generate PDF report

2016-04-11 Thread TN TN
Hi Eero,

Thanks for the reply. The XSLT file is located in that directory, but I
can't add any additional parameters (what I'm looking to add is custom user
tags to the PDF report) to that. It seems like the base XML file which the
PDF/XSLT uses to get the data is where I need to import the add-on info
(custom user tags, ex. company name, owner name, etc.) I need. So I'm
trying to figure out where the base XML file is. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks, T
