Re: [OpenWrt-Devel] menuconfig vs kernel_menuconfig

2010-04-24 Thread RHS Linux User

Hi All,

   Thank you Felix :)
   Thank you ede :)

I followed your suggestions with SUCCESS !! :)

I noticed that there is some problem with the GPIOMMC linkage. Please
see below.

So here is what I did and WORKED :).

(This is for the village telco version of Kamikaze 8.09.)

   1. Download latest - rv235 to a new directory.

   2. Run make menuconfig:
request modules for kmod-mmc, kmod-mmc-spi, kmod-spi-bitbang,
kmod-spi-gpio.

   3. Edit ...build-from-scratch.pl script to leave simple make V=99 line.

   4. Copy and fill whole villagetelco/dl directory from a previous
version so save LOTS of download time.

   5. Run build script. 8+ hours !!

Problem: I was asked twice about building gpiommc.ko. I answered as a
module. I assume my checking the box during make menuconfig somehow didn't
get passed forward? I would make up a fix, but I don't know where to
begin looking. HELP PLEASE with this.

   6. After answering the two questions above, the build completes !!

   7. The 3 expected modules were produced: gpiommc.ko, spi_gpio.ko and
spi-bitbang.ko.

Now I *JUST* gotta get the mmc hardware connected and working ;-).

   Thanks to all,
   Wiz

Thanks for this explanation! It really cleared up some things.
Could you please post it on wiki, or make it part of this document:
http://kamikaze.openwrt.org/docs/openwrt.html ?
It would really help for newcomers or people who want to play a bit more with
openWRT build system.

Kind regards
Adrian
