Problem with hardcoding br-lan is that it must not always be a bridge (lan can be unbridged by default as well, for example on the Dockstar which ironically is a NAS appliance). There are also some people working with version 3.6 in this ticket: https://dev.openwrt.org/ticket/9992 My preferred way would be to add samba 3.6 in addition to 3.0 into an other package as I do not think we get 3.6 as small as 3.0. Hauke I also prefer the 3.6 Samba version. I don't care for size since I'm installing Samba on extroot.
