It was after:
make defconfig
scripts/feeds update -a
scripts/feeds install -a
--your patch--
make menuconfig

Menuconfig itself did not work.

I don't need usb but some of the other packages.

Yes, I know, but now I have time for testing and and a second internet access
if something goes totally wrong.

Anyway, thank you for your quick and helpful answers.

You may need an older checkout of packages too. Things have changed
since then.

Just curious, why do you need linux-uvc? Do you have an USB-port
soldered?

It is. Uptime of 170days or so.

I give up for today and the next days:

It seems, that the old revsion is not usable in this way.

See you later.

I tried it.

If successfull, I will see it in the evening after compiling and flashing.

Yes, it's b0rked.

This is where the email should have no line break. It's supposed to be
appended to the +line above.

Like I said, change the file manually. Open
target/linux/ar7/image/Makefile in your editor and add the lines with +
and remove the lines with -.

Therefore I should understand what the patch does, but I don't, sorry.
I loaded the patch from the link inside the wiki:

http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.embedded.openwrt.devel/1688

patching file Makefile
Hunk #1 FAILED at 52.
patch: malformed patch at line 31: $(KDIR)/linux-*/vmlinux | grep
kernel_entry | cut -d' ' -f1} $(KDIR)/vmlinux.lzma $(KDIR)/loader.eva

I think there is no email problem. The problem is in my head, in the patch or
in the trunk.

May be you have an further idea.

If not, I will switch back to the old image with rev9340, but this revision has
a stability- Problem at eth0.

Thank you for your help.

Please apply the patch manually. It's only a few lines and the email
seems to have b0rked it.

There is a workaround known for the serial issue, but the real problem
is deeper and there is no fix yet.

[OpenWrt-Devel] SpeedportW701V - (TI AR7 [2.6]) Problem with patch

2009-02-25 Thread Thomas Schäfer
Hi,

Today I tried to upgrade my speedport with a more recent version of openwrt.

The first attempt did fail because of the Ticket #3123 (AR7 serial is broken)
The kernel assumes the console at ttyS08 but also kernel_args didn't help.
console=ttyS0,38408N1

So I followed the instructions on:
http://wiki.openwrt.org/OpenWrtDocs/Hardware/T-Com/SpeedportW701V

But there are new problems:

tho...@eee-box:~/openwrt/svn20090225/trunk_r12244> patch -i 1688.patch
patching file Makefile
Hunk #1 FAILED at 52.
patch: malformed patch at line 31: $(KDIR)/linux-*/vmlinux | grep
kernel_entry | cut -d' ' -f1} $(KDIR)/vmlinux.lzma $(KDIR)/loader.eva

tho...@eee-box:~/openwrt/svn20090225/trunk_r12244>

I have no clue what to do. But I afraid I need the patch working.

Since r13018 the patch is included, but is there a solution for the
serial-Problem? Which revision should I try?

Thank you,

Reg
