Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] one issue for kingbird functest Re: About kingbird OpenStack clients dependency ... RE: OpenStack python Clients in Functest

2016-11-17 Thread joehuang
Hello, Jose,

Consider that Functest is integrating Newton release of OpenStack, if the
dockfile installs the latest master branch of Kingbird, obviously the client
version will be conflict with each other, since the master branch of Kingbird
will update the requirements to the latest client version constantly.

And I checked that Functest will support different release of client library
with fixed version:

python-openstackclient==2.3.0   # Mitaka
python-keystoneclient==3.6.0# Ocata
python-neutronclient==4.1.1 # Mitaka
python-ceilometerclient==1.5.1  # Liberty

But non-tag or release of Kingbird have this odd client requirements. But it's
possible to re-enable kingbird in functest like this:

git clone https://github.com/openstack/kingbird.git && cd kingbird/

then modify the requirements.txt in kingbird folder, update the requirements
for the client to Fuctest's common requirements on client library.

After that, then run following command to install kingbird tempest plugin, and
enable the test of kingbird.

RUN cd ${repos_dir}/kingbird && pip install -e .

---

On the other hand, I would suggest to use same release of OpenStack client, or
install each functest modules like kingbird into separate venv.

Best Regards
Chaoyi Huang (joehuang)

Hi,

Ok. We can re-enable kingbird installation in the container. Please point me to
the right version we should fetch and I will include it again after doing local
testing of the build process.

I just noticed one issue will happen if the
kingbird install was removed in functest
container: the kingbird tempest plugin will
not be able to be discovered by tempest, so
the functest for kingbird will also not happen
again.

主题:About kingbird OpenStack clients dependency ... RE: OpenStack python Clients

Hello, Jose,

Currently, the master branch Functest of multisite CI job in OPNFV always get
the latest version of Kingbird, and install regarding dependency, which means
kingbird will install the ongoing developed Ocata openstack client dependency,
and leads to break the other module's dependency if no Venv is used.

I think Kingbird stable Newton version can be used instead the in OPNFV
functest, or install kingbird in Venv to avoid the dependency chaos.

Subject: OpenStack python Clients in Functest

Hi,

I have collected information about the python openstack clients we are
installing in Functest and the versions that correspond to the Openstack
official releases.
https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/functest/OpenStack+python+clients

Please have a look and provide comments. Let’s keep the control of what we
install in this wiki page.

I think for Danube we should target the Newton release and use the clients that
belong to Newton (see first table).

There are clashes in

- SFC (keystone version 1.7.4) --> need to talk to Tim Rozet to
support higher versions in his Tacker repo.

If my understanding is correct, then moving to option 2) is the change, since
the meeting time listed here:
https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/meetings#Meetings-Dovetail is 7am PST.

I have no objection to moving to 6am PST, but my understanding is that we
should update the meeting page to this new time, to update the OPNFV community
calendar, if we do this.

Dave.

Hi Rozet,

Please find the attached network settings file.

I had installed and provisioned the OPNFV target system to VM nodes based on
the user guide (i.e section: Installation Guide - Virtual Deployment )

Below options/parameters are used while running opnfv-deploy:
sudo opnfv-deploy -v --virtual-computes 1 --virtual-cpus 2 --virtual-ram 4
--debug --flat -n network_settings.yaml -d os-nosdn-nofeature-noha.yaml

The undercloud vm created and running and it is failed before deploying the
overcloud with below error:

  Running undercloud configuration.
  Logging undercloud configuration to
undercloud:/home/stack/apex-undercloud-install.log
  Device "eth2" does not exist.
  Cannot find device "eth2"

Please let me know cause.

Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] OpenDaylight - OPNFV community sync meeting

2016-11-17 Thread Dave Neary
Hi,

Since there was no agenda, and nothing specific for discussion, I
cancelled the meeting. I did so quite late, apologies for any inconvenience.

Thanks,
Dave.

Hi Guys, if you not ready are, I think it would be good if you could get
Ericsson SDN representation in these OPNFV-ODL collaboration meetings where the
OS-ODL integration difficulties/deficiencies/solutions get discussed across the
community boarders.

If my understanding is correct, then moving to option 2) is the change,
since the meeting time listed here:
https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/meetings#Meetings-Dovetail is 7am PST.

I have no objection to moving to 6am PST, but my understanding is that
we should update the meeting page to this new time, to update the OPNFV
community calendar, if we do this.

Regards,
Dave.

yes it is planned
I proposed a scenario collection in the Mongo DB that will collect the
results + scenario owner + custom scenario
It would mean also an evolution of the current testapi to includes
methods to access/update these info

I created a JIRA Epic with associated tasks

I also created a display sub directory where I put the html + static

[opnfv-tech-discuss] [Fuel] Generating base_dea.yaml for new releases

2016-11-17 Thread Peter Barabas
Hello,

FYI it's possible to generate base deploy/config/dea_base.yaml automatically
during reaping with the following command:

python reap.py dea.yaml dha.yaml 'Reaped config' -base_dea base_dea.yaml
-template base_dea_template.yaml

base_dea_template.yaml is available in the repo:
deploy/templates/templater/base_dea_template.yaml, which you should copy to
Fuel along with reap.py, common.py and templater.py in case you choose to go
this way.

I hope it will be useful for others too.

Best regards,

Peter.

Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] [dovetail] do we need to adjust the time for the dovetail meeting

2016-11-17 Thread Tianhongbo
Hi Dave:

We have two options:

1)keep the same local time in Europe and the US, which would move the meeting
one hour later in China

2)keep the same local time in China, which move the meeting time one hour
earlier in Europe and the US.

Right now, we are using the option 2).

Do we need to change or keep?

Best regards

hongbo

Apologies - with your proposal the meeting would move from 10am to 9am - I do
not usually have a conflict at this time.

In the Meetings page, the meeting time is listed as 7am Pacific time - this is
10am Eastern, and currently 4pm European Standard Time.

Are you proposing that we change this?

Thanks,
Dave.

Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] [functest] [yardstick] Client version can't support Newton - solution proposal

2016-11-17 Thread liyin (F)
Hi all,

Bottlenecks has also encountered the openstack client chosen issue. We are
currently searching for solutions.
I also notice that the discussion may rush to a wrong direction.

I guess there may be one thing that need to be clarified, i.e., we should not
focus on the adaption of different version of openstack. The real problem is we
are dealing with different version of keystone clients.
Different version of openstack could use the same version of keystone clients.
Newton is not bound with V3 client.

We do not have to own codes that should be developed in upstreams or drive us
into developing any abstract layer.
We could search for solutions technically. As I experimented in my own
environment, The openstack client has provided a mechanism to adapt different
versions of keystone. I think we should explore more into this direction.

Regards,
Ace

I agree, the thing to solve here is for the purely openstack activities we want
to perform on the VIM.
Looking at areas like access connectivity and distributed cloud technologies
these are capabilities that will most likely require more than an OpenStack
northbound interface from the VIM. There is no point trying to solve
non-openstack issues in openstack. They don’t need or want the complication
of, for instance, trying to integrate the provisioning of a vOLT function into
a VIM operation.

I do agree on trying to work with openstack to keep their interface (especially
those we care about) backwards compliant, for that we must be fully engaged
with the community related to our needed use cases.

We have the power to affect openstack and any other community when we are part
of those communities. But if we don’t show up the reverse is true. Let’s make
sure we know what we care about and demonstrate our care in those projects. ☺

/ Chris

can't support Newton - solution proposal

I would say that:

1) We should strive to directly leverage upstream clients directly, and
specifically the python-openstackclient in all cases where it serves our need
for the specific OPNFV system version.

a. Exceptions do exist, but we will not help promote removal of those
exceptions by creating a shim client that shields us from the pain of the gaps,
and the OpenStack python-openstackclient project from the need to address those
gaps.

b. After all, we are here to identity and address-upstream issues with
the upstream projects.

2) We should not own code intended as a long-term shim of an upstream
project, even one that ostensibly simplifies how test code interacts with the
openstack clients (the python-openstackclient or any of the others).

a. An experimental shim might help the upstream teams to understand and
address gaps/issues we have, but would have little real, long-term value to
OPNFV beyond that.

b. One key reason is any simplification/abstraction is likely to mask
things that some project needs, and then we are right back to an
exception/kludge situation, with the exception that to address the issue we now
have to issue patches against another (and not even upstream) project.

3) We should document all issues with the plan-of-record of the OpenStack
community to converge on the python-openstackclient, and put any efforts to
address them directly upstream, not in OPNFV.

a. For now we have plenty of workaround approaches to those issues, e.g.
use a different client/version.

b. The implications/limitations of those workarounds should also be
documented so we can decide which really are sufferable until the upstream
client issues are addressed.

Thanks,
