[opnfv-tech-discuss] Continuing the project graduation discussions

2017-02-20 Thread Raymond Paik
All,

I don't think I managed to follow-up after our discussions at the Plugfest
on graduation reviews. I created a wiki page summarizing my notes at
https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/PROJ/Graduation+review+discussions  If you
have any questions or comments, please feel free to add them to the
comments section on the wiki page or reply to this email.

I also had a chance to talk to a few OpenDaylight community members last
week and confirmed that projects that passed graduation/promotion reviews
in their community serve as "role models" for other members of the
community.

I can bring this up during the TSC call tomorrow if we have time...

Thanks,

Ray

Hi Michael.

Ok, clear, thank you for clarifications!
I’m really happy that we were able to get UI after installing “feature:install
odl-sfc-ui”, proposed by Pau.

Thanks to both of you for quick response!

BR/Anton.

Subject: [fuel][plugins][odl]

Hi Experts!

We have an environment, which consist of 3 Controller and 2 compute nodes,
where we would like to try SFC.
Deployment was done using Fuel, with OpenDaylight (with SFC features) and
Openvswitch plugins installed. But after deployment in OpenDaylight DLUX user
interface we don’t have anything related to SFC. It refer us to page like this
(not …/sfc/index.html):

[cid:image001.jpg@01D28B6C.6FFBAFA0]
When we try to open http://192.168.203.210:8181/sfc/index.htm manually, we
getting error (no such page)

When I go to OpenDaylight shell on controller node, I see in the list of
installed features that next SFC-related features are installed:
opendaylight-user@root>feature:list -i | grep -i sfc
odl-ovsdb-sfc-api  | 1.3.0-Boron  | x |
odl-ovsdb-sfc-1.3.0-Boron| OpenDaylight :: ovsdb-sfc :: api
odl-ovsdb-sfc  | 1.3.0-Boron  | x |
odl-ovsdb-sfc-1.3.0-Boron| OpenDaylight :: ovsdb-sfc
odl-ovsdb-sfc-rest | 1.3.0-Boron  | x |
odl-ovsdb-sfc-1.3.0-Boron| OpenDaylight :: ovsdb-sfc :: REST
odl-sfc-model  | 0.3.0-Boron  | x |
odl-sfc-0.3.0-Boron  | OpenDaylight :: sfc :: Model
odl-sfc-provider   | 0.3.0-Boron  | x |
odl-sfc-0.3.0-Boron  | OpenDaylight :: sfc :: Provider
odl-sfc-provider-rest  | 0.3.0-Boron  | x |
odl-sfc-0.3.0-Boron  | OpenDaylight :: sfc :: Provider
odl-sfc-ovs| 0.3.0-Boron  | x |
odl-sfc-0.3.0-Boron  | OpenDaylight :: OpenvSwitch
odl-sfc-openflow-renderer  | 0.3.0-Boron  | x |
odl-sfc-0.3.0-Boron  | OpenDaylight :: sfc-openflow-renderer

I’m wondering if we have to do some additional steps after Fuel deployment with
plugin to get SFC UI available? I was not able to find any instruction for this
part and supposed that OpenDaylight DLUX user interface will open SFC UI.

Thank you in advance!
BR/Anton.

[opnfv-tech-discuss] reply: [Dovetail] Inputs for Dovetail Principles and Priorities

2017-02-20 Thread Tianhongbo
Hi all:

Thanks Bryan for driving this discussion.
Before, we have down a lot of work for the dovetail, and we also have met many
issues.
This time, the dovetail will start with the D release-based compliance.
It will give us new chance to rethink the dovetail approaches and give us more
time to plan the dovetail to make it released.
The structure will be reshaped.
Welcome to join the dovetail discussion.

Best regards

hongbo

主题: [opnfv-tech-discuss] [Dovetail] Inputs for Dovetail Principles and
Priorities

Hi all,

To help us move forward on Dovetail I’ve suggested that we first take a step
back and consider/agree upon some basics that will I think help us focus the
Dovetail effort more effectively.
https://techdiscuss.opnfv.org/t/organizing-dovetail/82 was started for that
overall goal. Because it’s unclear to me exactly what tool the team prefers to
use (and what may be the most effective tool) for such
input/discussion/consensus, I’ve suggested that we use a variety of tools as
need be, for the various aspects of this discussion. Here’s a summary and links:

For example, I submitted https://jira.opnfv.org/browse/DOVETAIL-345 to help us
“drive consensus on the high-level test areas for the program to address, first
release and as a roadmap”. But whether JIRA is a useful enough tool to develop
that consensus in detail is TBD. So when Lincoln asked the question “ how to
drive this collaboration / input” in that JIRA issue, I responded with the
below:

I don't think that
https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/dovetail/Dovetail+Test+Areas+and+Test+Cases
covers the priorities at the right level. I would rather have a fresh look at
this, using a collaborative-editing tool ala Etherpad or a threaded
conversation tool ala https://techdiscuss.opnfv.org/. I have for example
created a couple of sub-pads of https://etherpad.opnfv.org/p/dovetail to start
the discussion:
* https://etherpad.opnfv.org/p/dovetail-principles
* https://etherpad.opnfv.org/p/dovetail-priorities

Discussing such a set of views in a threaded conversation can get very
difficult to follow. But any aspects of this that are controversial should be
discussed in https://techdiscuss.opnfv.org/ as discrete topics first, and we
can agree on the etherpad to take the discussion there as needed.

I’d like to get your opinions on this as a more useful way to organize the
discussion (and of course, your active participation in the discussion!), i.e.:

* We use JIRA to manage the things we need to agree upon

* Collaboratively edit an etherpad page related to the subject

* If aspects of what the etherpad covers need a deeper/threaded
discussion, we can note that on the etherpad and move the discussion to
https://techdiscuss.opnfv.org/ until we have consensus, which we can then
document on the etherpad

* Once we have reached an adequate set of consensus points, we document
this in the JIRA issue and close it.

Thanks,
