Hi Billy and Tom,

In the previous meeting (7/18), Mark mentioned virtual and bare-metal 
deployments.
I’d like to try to install OPNFV (Brahmaputra or Colorado) using
virtual deployments (VM base) in my local environment (one or two physical 
machines).

In the public links
(https://www.opnfv.org/software/download
http://artifacts.opnfv.org/fuel/brahmaputra/docs/installation-instruction.html),
it provides iso images and bare-metal deployments only.
Is there any image or information for the virtual deployments (Fuel and Apex)?

Hi Chunghan,

I did a patch on a minimal virtual deployment  for fuel 
https://gerrit.opnfv.org/gerrit/#/c/17427/

It needs a bit more work before it can be merged but it works.

You could try applying that patch to your local fuel repo and deploying it with 
something like :


sudo ./fuel/ci/deploy.sh -b file:///opt/fuel/fuel/deploy/config  -s 
os-nosdn-nofeature-noha-minimal -l local -p virtual_minimal -i 
file:///opt/fuel/fuel_iso/opnfv-2016-08-03_23-58-37.iso


Otherwise I would contact the fuel team - probably 
fzhad...@mirantis.com or 
mpolenc...@mirantis.com as they may also have 
an already upstreamed method that works.

Sorry, I’d like to confirm my understanding.
I have to prepare fuel jump server with the fuel repo and apply your patch.
Is it right ?  I’ll try to do this.

Hi Chunghan,

If you clone the fuel repo and then checkout the patch

git fetch https://gerrit.opnfv.org/gerrit/fuel refs/changes/27/17427/2 && git 
checkout FETCH_HEAD

Then also get a recent version of the fuel opnfv .iso from the 
artifacts.opnfv.org.

You should then be able to run the deploy script below.  The script will create 
a three VMs on your host. One for fuel master and one each for a control and 
compute node. It will also create a virtual network (ie a bunch of linux 
bridges and vnets) to connect the VMs together. The fuel master guest will then 
proceed to deploy opnfv on to the controller & compute guest’s.

You will also need to have qemu/libvirt installed on your os.
