Tor in the Chronicle of Higher Education

2007-02-08 Thread nile
Hello all,

I was just linked to an article in The Chronicle of Higher Education
about Tor:
http://chronicle.com/temp/email2.php?id=zht45qPrsddjvvgfcjwWPjxhFwqxyfVX

An assistant professor at Bowling Green State University is confronted
by the university's network people about his use and advocacy of Tor.
He's a bit lax with the technical details, but it's interesting to see
Tor in a mainstream publication :).

It's not a problem to use a less common User-Agent string,
as long as you regenerate it between visits.

Have a look at:
http://www.fabiankeil.de/sourcecode/uagen/uagen.pl
if you're using Privoxy and/or a browser that understands
Mozilla prefs.js files.

You might also want to have a look at the or-talk
archive, your discovery isn't exactly hot news here.

True, but that's configurable in most sensible browsers.

In Firefox, check out the stuff in about:config
specifically the general.useragent.* stuff.

Better yet, get the "User Agent Switcher" plugin.
