I think - although I'm not 100% sure - that he was speaking of Tor's
cryptography in a proper sense; I think he was wondering how the exit
node gets the final decryption key (to remove the last onionskin).

In any case, that's a question best answered by exiting documentation. =:oD

Tor opens a SOCKS listener, by default, on TCP 9050; Privoxy will open
an HTTP proxy listener, by default, on TCP 8118.

When someone makes use of Privoxy, it will talk to Tor via the SOCKS
listener on the localhost; in essence, it loops back before going out.

The Privoxy port can be changed by editing its config file; Tor can be
made to listen on a different port by editing your torrc file.
