Title: Subversion + Admin of Linux, Opensource, CVS i.e this is a Version Control requirement Location: San Jose, CA Duration: 6+ Months No of Positions: 1 Rate: $DOE Must Have Skills: Must have 6+ years of IT experience with Subversion + Admin of Linux, Opensource, CVS i.e this is a Version Control experience. Organization has created a home-grown Data Management System such which sits on top of CVS. Together they comprise a close pairing of a open source Version Control System and customized Data Management System (DMS) to provide engineers with the ability to work quickly in an environment involving large files/datasets, not well served by stand-alone Software Configuration Management (SCM) tools. This tool has been recently ported to Subversion 1.6 but needs to be "productized' to meet the requirements of multiple teams and ported to SVN 1.7. Candidate should be good with Open Source technologies with a broad spectrum knowledge of Software Configuration Management (SCM) and automation tools. Job Requirements: Education and Experience: - College degree or significant relevant recent experience, preferably at least a Bachelors degree Computer Science or related field. - 6+ year's recent and relevant experience in Software Development. General: - Must be able to work in stressful situations and maintain a professional demeanor. Ability to work well under pressure and short deadlines. - Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication and presentation skills for communicating with both internal and external customers. - Excellent organizational and time management skills. - Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of people including members of management, engineers, and external partners. - Should be a great team player. - Ability to multi-task and shift directions quickly is a must. - Experience of working with cross-functional teams in a corporate environment. - Experience in a large, complex organization or corporate structured environment required. Essential Expertise: - Programming expertise in Perl - Expert knowledge in Subversion and SVN 1.7 changes. -Should be able to download, build and install SVN 1.7 binaries. -Good working knowledge of Software Configuration Management (SCM) practices and workflows. - Good understanding of Open Source Software - Linux system administration skills - Software engineering skills surrounding revision control systems and issue tracking systems. -Able to provide bug fixes and performance improvement code (perl) changes to the DMS system. -Work as a SCM/build and release engineer of for the DMS maintenance updates, merge changes, test them and move them into production. -Provide a test document for use case testing, error, robustness and corner case testing and full testing against the requirements. -Ability to create support, user and training documentation to complete the productization phase. Desired Expertise: -Knowledgeable in CVS. -Experience with deployment and enterprise rollout with applications. -Knowledge of Perforce is a plus.
