*Job Title : Oracle Database Administrator Location : Chesterfield, MO Duration : 6+ Months Rate : Market* Description Plans computerized databases, including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection. Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools such as base dictionaries. Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management. Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.Normally requires a university degree and a minimum of 2-5 years related experience. Works on problems of diverse scope in which analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Normally receives no instructions on routine work, general instructions on new assignments. Usually requires 3 to 5 years of previous experience. Responsibilities include: Creation/maintenance of systems technical support SOPs, performance troubleshooting, streamlining centralized and distributed synchronization, replication and ETL processes. Utilize global monitoring tools for critical TPS applications and infrastructure components to perform detailed performance analysis, proactive tuning and alert monitoring for E2E critical workflows. Provide performance and forecast reports on the health and load of critical business processes to help ensure TPS applications are highly scalable and the IT landscape has adequate capacity. Coordination /communication/influence of department software development teams to adhere to TPS Data Operations standards is also required. Required skills: B.S. in Computer Science or related field with proven technical systems troubleshooting skills 2nd level support for data systems and/or Application DBA Oracle 10g-11g experience in SQL development, debugging and tuning Microsoft SQL Server maintenance / administration experience Windows Server administration experience Windows and Unix batch / shell scripting Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills and problem solving skills Must be a self starter, collaborate across team boundaries, drive issues to conclusion and hold others accountable for results. Must have strong leadership skills Must be able to successfully manage small to medium sized projects Must be able to follow and adhere to Monsanto policies and procedures Desired skills: - Systems development experience with one or more of the following Autosys, Business Objects, Golden Gate, and/or Informatica. - Experience in database performance tuning. - Linux and Unix administration Candidates who succeed in this fast paced dynamic environment excel in the following competencies: Team Orientation: Works cooperatively with others.
