Title: *Sr. Oracle 11g/RAC DBA (with Data Warehouse experience on resume)
*Duration: 3 months + option for additional time
Start: ASAP
Location: Columbus, OH
Rate: Open + Expenses
REQUIRED:
1. Candidate must have 8-10 or more years DBA experience, implementing
decision support systems, Data Warehouses, preferably involving very large
databases and multiple RAC nodes.
2. Experience with 11g versions of the Oracle database is critical.
3. A deep understanding of DW and DSS architecture, design,
implementation is required.
4. Prior experience doing performance work reviewing database is
required.
5. Must have experience working in a Data Warehouse environment.
• DataWarehouse architecture setup and configuration review.
• Reviewing of database table space structure..
• Reviewing of use of B*Tree, Bit-Mapped and Bit-Mapped Pre-Join Indexes.
• Reviewing of use of materialized view and summary tables.
• Reviewing Oracle parameters logs and errors messages.
• Review the layout of the database on disk.
• Measuring the Input Output(IO) rate, wait events and statistics
associated with the Oracle Database instance.
• Reviewing the definition of temp space, redo logs, rollback segments and
other database instance specific objects.
• Reviewing the existing environment and make recommendations of new
features that may be available.
Query tuning experience in large databases (> 100TB)
Assess current database statistics gathering procedures
Discuss and create an automated statistics gathering procedures
Provide Oracle best practices for database statistics gathering
Assess current index and table reorganization requirements
Discuss and assist creation of index and table reorganization procedures
that minimize downtime
Discuss and assist creation of a testing plan for the reorganization
procedures
Indexes and tables reorganization on routine basis
Review Log file growth patterns
Discuss and create procedures to manage log file growth / pruning
