Job Title: Systems Administrator/VMWare.
Location: Thousand Oaks, CA.
Duration: 12+ month contract
Rate: $55/hr
Job Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is the VMWare configuration and
operations management, along with daily systems management tasks in a
complex environment. The environment contains multiple platforms of HP
ProLiant hardware, VMware software, and other infrastructure products. You
will also be responsible for ongoing improvement of processes and applying
best practices for the environment.
Job Responsibilities
• Provides technical leadership and is responsible for the delivery of the
technical architectural design, strategies and plans that will be a
delivered on an ongoing basis.
• Responsible for ongoing management of VMWare infrastructure.
• Performs necessary systems maintenance in accordance with VMware best
practices and Company change management policies.
• Designs system migration architecture as required.
• Responsible for Runbook Design, Development, and ongoing updates.
• Responsible for ongoing recommendations and best practices, as applicable,
for Business Continuity and High Availability.
• Responsible for Capacity Planning and Disaster Recovery Planning and
design as applicable.
• Provides ITIL Process Planning as applicable.
• Recommend changes to procedures which result in operational optimization
• Participate in Root Cause Analysis reviews when applicable.
• Rotational 24x7 On-Call Support
Basic Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must possess the following skills/experience:
• 5 years of overall IT experience in medium to large environments
• Ability to grasp problems quickly and apply experience for problem
resolution and provide recommendations.
• 3 years experience designing/implementing Virtualization technologies
• Experience with building and maintaining high-availability (?99.9%)
environments
• Good understanding of SAN, NAS and Network technologies
• Strong skills in integration of related technology with business and
computer systems.
• Experience working in a high-availability clustered environment.
• In-depth knowledge VMware technology.
• Experience configuring VMware HA and DRS
• Experience with Windows Operating systems from a system administrator
perspective.
• VMware ESX/ESXi 3.5 and 4.x
• VMware VI3 and vSphere 4.x
• VMware Virtual Center vSphere
• Windows Server 2003, 2008
• Daily Support of Back-ups, set up of VMware VMware HA, monitoring, etc
• Fiber Channel Switching
• SAN Configure, Maintain, Monitor
• Solid grasp of TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
• Multiple years of experience in fast-paced high-availability production
environments with an emphasis on remote lights-out management of systems.
• Outstanding troubleshooting ability.
