Active Directory and ORACLE passwords

2003-11-25 Thread Bartolo, David
Title: Active Directory and ORACLE passwords

Hi all,

Has anyone heard of or seen any information on using Active Directory for password rules

and authentication to an ORACLE database. An example would be that Active Directory

would set up the rules for the password and the time that the password would be valid and then

pass off to the ORACLE database that password. Any information would help.

Thanks in advance

David

Take an Oracle 8.1 export file back to an Oracle 7.1 database.

2003-08-12 Thread Bartolo, David
Title: Take an Oracle 8.1 export file back to an Oracle 7.1 database.

Hi all

Is it possible to take an Oracle Version 8.1 database export file and load it into an Oracle Version 7.1 database?

The export file of the 8.1 is on a different machine than the 7.1 database. If I can not is there some other method

I can use to get the data from the 8.1 export file to the 7.1 database.

Thanks

David

Export from Oracle 8 to Oracle 7

2002-12-04 Thread Bartolo, David
Hi all

Can I export from a Release 8.1.7.0.0 oracle db to a Release 7.1.4.1.1?
Is there a setting in the export utility to be backward compatible with V7?

Thanks

OPS$users

2001-08-31 Thread Bartolo, David

Hi all,

Is there some db parameter I need to set to get the ops$ login to work? I
am using ORACLE V8.1.7 on a Compaq Tru64 V5.1
I have created a unix user called production. I then created the user in
the database called ops$production.

When I login as this user and try to go into SQL*PLUS I get an invalid
username/password error.

I get the error if I type:

sqlplus  /

or

sqlplus
get the username prompt and hit enter.

Thanks

Have you checked $ORACLE_HOME/dbs directory for control files?
Are you using/set ORACLE_SID correctly before starting database?

Harvinder,

change your script like this:

 declare
 io_cursor getrateschedules_pkg.t_cursor;  ==  change the reference
to
the cursor declared
in the
package body.
 begin
 getrateschedules_pkg.getrateschedules(1,2,3,sysdate,4,io_cursor);
 end;
 /

we do this all the time for ref cursors used by VB.

hope this helps

I think the error is in the call to the procedure, not in the procedure
itself -- the procedure looks fine at a glance. Could you post the ASP
code that makes the call?

Calling a script/other program from a stored procedure

2001-03-21 Thread Bartolo, David

Hi all,

I think this thread was talked about a few days ago, but I missed it.
Can anyone show me how or where to look to call a unix script or other
program
from a stored procedure.

Thanks
David
