Installation oracle through responsefile

2001-07-10 Thread Brijesh Lal

Hi All

I am trying to install oracle 8.16 in non-interactive
mode(silent) mode. However installation does not
proceed and fails
I am giving following command
runInstaller -silent -responsefile /oracle/response/
ee_typical.rsp
However in /tmp/silentInstall.log I get following
error

No forced value specified for the variable
ORACLE_HOME, associated with
property ToLocation, in dialog
oracle.sysman.oii.oiif.oiifw.OiifwInstLocWCDE

This silent installation was unsuccessful.
Warning :*** Alert: Do you really want to exit? ***

I have done following setting in ee_typical.rsp
UNIX_GROUP_NAME=dba

#FROM_LOCATION;String;Used in Dialog
#Full path for the products.jar file.
FROM_LOCATION=/data1/cdrom1/stage/products.jar

#ORACLE_HOME;String;Used in Dialog
ORACLE_HOME=/oracle/product/8.1.5

Can anyone please help in solving this problem
Thanks for the help in advance

RE: Multiple databases under the same ORACLE_HOME

2001-06-18 Thread Brijesh Lal

Yes it is possible to have mutiple under same oracle
home in windows nt. The only thing to do is just go to
console and type set oracle_sid=new_sid then create
the database with this new sid and thus u can have two
databases runing at same time on windows nt

Re: Datafile needs media recovery

2001-04-21 Thread Brijesh Lal

Hi
  Since ur database in in archive log mode you can go
for following method also
just move your datafile to some other place. This is
just for backup. Now create a new datafile based on
existing datafile using following command

alter database create datafile'old_datafile_name+path'

as 'new_datafile_name+path'

where old_datafile_name+path will be the path and name
of ur orginal datafile which u have renamed and
new_datafile_name+path will be the name and path u
desire
Then perform media recovery for that new datafile
using
recover datafile 'new_datafile_name+path'
This method is basically used to recreate and recover
damaged datafile
However for this u must have all archive log files
since orginal datafile was created

Hope so this may help u
