Planning Test Backup/Recovery
Hi all : Does anyone have a planning for test backup and recovery ? I have the scripts and i am doing the backup and now we need to test it in production environment. I have tested it at another environment and got sucess. but at production ... it need to be very very careful ... Any sugestion ? Tom : I am thinking something like that .. I have already did the test at another machine ... It worked right... but the instance was diferente ... So, in your opinion i need to create a instance, in the production machine, with the same parameters of production and apply the test there, righ ... But , how can i to create a instance with the same parameters ? Should i use the init.ora of the production instance ? Thanks. Once you are convinced that everything works, schedule a down time where you can test backup/restore of the production database. I would also keep the test db on the production box, and as a regular monthly schedule, test backup and restore of that database - just to make sure that it continues to work. Hope this helps. Ok. I have solved this problem. I put the parameter large_pool_size with a large value (200mb) and now it is running right... I know that this value is too large, but it solved my problem... We are looking for it ... Hi Rich : We installed the 9i version and had problem with large poll size. At first it was with 10mb, after around 50mb and the errors was ocurring yet, then we put around 200 mb and the error stopped. Is it normal ? Regards ... Undo x Rollback Segments in 9i
Friends : I tried to create a rollback segment in 9i and its said to me : CREATE PUBLIC ROLLBACK SEGMENT RBS01 TABLESPACE RBS * ERROR at line 1: ORA-30019: Illegal rollback Segment operation in Automatic Undo mode Well, i realized that Oracle created for me some resource like rollback segment automaticaly. My doubt : If i will put the instance in Manual Undo I can to create the rollback segment, but i will lost the resource automatic. does anyone use it or know how to use Automatic Undo ? Installing Oracle 9i
Friends : I am installing the database Oracle 9i. And it have suggested a parameter value 100mb for redo log file. I am confused with this value, i think it is too big. The blocksize is 8192 Connections simultaneous is 100 Where am I doing any mistake ? Error conecting by svrmgrl
Friends : I have a database Oracle installed in NT. I have deleted the service and rebuild it again. Now, when I try to connect in the database using svrmgrl i received a error message. Cause: A generic protocol adapter error occurred. Action: Check addresses used for proper protocol specification. Before reporting this error, look at the error stack and check for lower level transport errors.For further details, turn on tracing and re-execute the operation. Turn off tracing when the operation is complete. What can i do for correct it ? Where is this address ? and What can I do for delete the services that aren't being used in NT ?
