PLS_INTEGER vs. LONG datatype in C
Hi all, first of all, I am no C professional, so please forgive me if I am not specifiying everthing as correct as neede, I am asking this on behalf of a colleague of mine. He has run into some problems in a plsql procedure, while moving to from Oracle 7.3.4 to Oracle 8.0.6. In one of his C applications he is performing a checksum, by just adding values. This still works ok, when he uses his C application. Now, he is in the need to replicate his simple checksum routine in plsql. That works ok under 7.3.4, but gives an overflow under 8.06. I took the wrong error description. again.. anyone able to tell me, how to grant v$session select privileges to a user ? --- grant select on v$session to xyuser* ORA-02030: can only select from fixed tables/views --- ORA-02030 can only select from fixed tables/views Cause: An operation other than SELECT on a fixed dynamic performance table or view was attempted. It is only possible to select from fixed tables or views. PlSQL output on Client machine
Hi folks, how can I tell a PLSQL script not to store it's UTL_FILE.Put_Line(fHandle,'TEXT') output to the filesystem of the server, but on the client ? Whenever I run this locally it's ok. But if the DB is on a network server, it's filesystem is used. I am using NT/SP6/Oracle 8x. Is this possible ??? ORacle PID = WinNT PID ?????
Hi all, can anyone tell me, if the Oracle PID has to be the same as the Windos process id ? dbms_job question
Hi all, I have used the dbms_job package in some cases. Normally I use the INTERVAL method of the packages. i.e. 30 sec. But soemtimes it occurs, that users change their system time to the future to test something, then changing back to the correct time. The INTERVAL job then stops, as he has not reached his "future" time.. any ideas to handle this ?? TNX for your answers. What I need is exactly what Oracle doesn't support. Logging "who" changed "what" in a special area of our database. I think triggering the events will be much more specific and more easy to change. In case all our applications use the same database and user, I am trying to check out what application is changing monitored tables (i.e. c:\app\userapp\app.exe is changing table1). Hi all, does anyone have experience in using Oracle's possibilities of auditing a database ?? I am interested in performance questions i.e. is it a hughe loss of performance when auditing tables Inserts/Updates/Deletes. paresh mehta, What could go wrong is, if you are selecting like this: "Select from where rownum < 20" because you are not selecting from all rows, but from the 1st 19 If you use it the way, it was posted, it works correct ! The posted statements selects from all rows, and returns the 1st eight rows from the resultset, which is sorted in the manner you wish. ..or tell your group leader to post a rownum statement giving wrong results.
