RE:

2001-03-22 Thread Mark Kirk

The role is EXP_FULL_DATABASE

Grant the roll to a user that has a default and temporary tablespaces that
are different than 'SYSTEM'

You want to avoid any chance of using the SYSTEM tablespace.

That's it for now,

RE: Someone changed INTERNAL password URGENT

2001-03-20 Thread Mark Kirk

Run orapwd.

Replace the password file. This is only possible if you have admin rights on
the system.

The options will come up if you add nothing to the end of the command, and
you can go from there.

You can change the system and sys passwords using ALTER USER as an
authenticated privileged user.

That's it for now,

RE: Rollback segment

2001-03-03 Thread Mark Kirk

If you drop 3 of your 4 rollback segments you will suffer in your database
ability to handle transactions. For a complete overview look here:

RE: svrmgrl vs sys account

2001-03-03 Thread Mark Kirk

I am not sure I understand your question, but basically, if you define the
tablespace for your new user and the temporary tablespace too, then there is
no difference.

It is important to avoid using the system tablespace for users data and
temporary tables. That could lead to fregmentation and would be a risk to
your database.

As far as rights and privileges go -- why don't you create a user for
yourself with dba privileges and then avoid the use of the sys and system
users altogether. Using sys is needed for only a small handful of actions,
so try to stay away from causing use of the system tablespace by any actions
as a user.

That's it for now,
