Dear List, I have 8.0.5.2.1(32bit) database on HP-UX 11.0 server. I have a database link connecting to other database. I get following error while trying to access objects thorough db link ( db link goes to 8.1.6.2.0 (64bit) database on HP-UX 11.0 ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist There is work around to put IP address for this host in tnsnames.ora which fixes the problems. Is there any other good solution to this problem? All your suggestions are always welcome. already did that , doesn't work, funny thing is I can tnsping that foreign database but doesn't work through db link. Fred, You can load pl/sql using following to load pl/sql in database. loadjava -force -user sys/sys's password plsql.jar It works fine for us. You have to use -force to load it if the script fails. Thank you friends, But we finally figured out. Actually the OUT parameter is procedure is useless as Shailesh pointed out , there is no variable to put the OUT value in auto-execute. So this is what we did. Kept the OUT parameter ( we could took it out but developer insisted to keep it as they might use that procedure in Pro*C) in the procedure and rewrote the submit job script like this. declare jobno number; begin dbms_job.submit(jobno,'declare errno number; begin l_load_weekly_aps.p_load_ocn(errno); end;',sysdate,'sysdate+1'); end; Now it submits and while auto-executing through dbms_job.run also finds the variable to put the OUT parameter valus, but we still can not see this value. But hey, it solves the problems job executes fine without any of those errors I was getting before. Thanks everybody for the input and replies. Connectivity problems through IIS server.
Dear List, One of our developers is getting following error while trying to connect using IIS Server (4.0) to oracle Database 8.1.6.2.0. I think he is using ASP program to connect to database. I am able to connect though sqlplus.exe from that machine but not through the IIS Server connection. Is there anything else you have to set in IIS server to get right tnsnames.ora Can you help? Unfortunately it looks very similar to the error I was getting on the trigger which recorded destructive DDL. The corrected trigger code has been sent in another mail; a close cursor statment was placed incorrectly in the code. Your statement is failing because the program is trying to close a cursor which was not opened. The original mail did have warnings about the code not being thoroughly tested.
