TOAD Login Problem

2002-01-26 Thread kjanusz

Oracle 9i (9.0.1) on XP Professional on DELL 8200.
TOAD VI freeware ver. 6.3.11.1g

I keep gettint this error when I try to connect to 9i:

Initialization error.
Could not locate OCI dll

I can connect using SQL*Plus with no problems.

Any idea as to what the problem is with TOAD?

Thanks much,
Ken Janusz, CPIM

Dick:

I'm just going to use it as a learning tool. I looked
into downloading the three zip files but it would have
taken forever with my regular phone line connection.
So, it was just easier to purchase the CD pack.

Joe:

I belong to OTN and tried that route. But I only have
a regular speed phone line and it would have taken
about two weeks to download the three zip files. So it
was just easier to pay $39.95 plus shipping. And I
also get other tools and doc. in the CD Pack.

How do they get the answer?

2001-08-21 Thread kjanusz

I am taking the Self-Test software test for the SQL exam
and don't see how they get the answer to this problem.
They don't explain how it is arrived at.

Any help you can give me will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken Janusz, CPIM

Examine the structure of the TEACHER table:

NameNull?   Type
ID  NOT NULLNUMBER(9)
SALARY  NUMBER
(7,2)
SUBJECT_ID  NOT NULLNUMBER(3)
SUBJECT_DESCRIPTION VARCHAR2(2)

There are 200 teachers and 15 subjects. Each subject is
taught
by at least 2 teachers.

Evaluate this PL/SQL block:

DECLARE
v_pct_raise number := 1.10;
BEGIN
UPDATE  teacher
SET salary = salary * 1.10
WHERE   subject_id IN (102, 105);
COMMIT;
END;

Which result will the PL/SQL block provide?

(A) Only two teachers will receive a 10% salary increase.
(B) All of the teachers will receive a 10% salary
increase.
(C) At least four teachers will receive a 10% salary
increase.
(D) A syntax error will occur.

Answer:
(C)

Thanks for the information. The IMS data will have to
be cleansed before it is loaded into Oracle (8.1.? on

Will sqloader convert EBCDIC to ASCII?

Migrating IMS to Oracle

A Question on the Basics of PL/SQL

2001-06-28 Thread kjanusz

I am a bit confused as to when to use the following. I
cannot seem to find any definitive rules.

- function
- cursor
- procedure
- package

If someone can point me to a white paper, or whatever,
that defines the rules for their usage I would be most
thankful.

Also, none of them get paid until they play someone.

Need Help

I need some help. I was an Oracle DBA with ADC Telecomm

Any assistance finding another Oracle related position

Relocation from the Mpls / St. Paul, MN is not an option.

Thanks much,
