RE: Americas Cup
i recalled seeing a clip of "plane traveling at 900 knots just off the water." well, maybe not exactly 900 knots - but fast. and here it is: http://www.eng.vt.edu/fluids/msc/gallery/conden/f14.mpeg (1.35MB) isn't google great! a still image with explanation for the bandwidth impaired - http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap010221.html and to get us back on topic - anybody ever see a query go that fast over water? :) -Original Message- Sent: Tuesday, January 21, 2003 1:05 PM To: Multiple recipients of list ORACLE-L Most fighters are equipped with a 20-mm gun. Title: RE: Re[2]: Americas Cup Hi Team My 2 cents worth. As a Kiwi I can tell you that there is a high level of public interest in the America's cup here in New Zealand. It is after all a major sporting event. However to many people, sail boat racing is as interesting as watching paint dry. Now if Larry had flown his Mig over the Hauraki Gulf and start shooting up Alinghi, well then, I would expect a whole new level of interest in the event and perhaps the Louis Vuitton Cup final may not have been so one sided. RE: Americas Cup
Title: RE: Americas Cup I understand an Oracle database was running onboad the yacht but... it must not have been tuned well... or maybe they were using BCHR tuning methods... or maybe there wasn't a good DBA onboard... or maybe the DBA was Larry and he was dependent on using OEM... or maybe it wasn't unbreakable and there were some ora-00600's. Actually I watched one of the races on ESPN and the commentators said 1) the skipper made a few tactical errors in desperation because 2) the boat did not perform as well under higher winds. (>15) Maybe the bid wind was sitting on board. ;-) If there had been less wind it would have probably won. FWIW. -Original Message-From: Gogala, Mladen [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]Sent: Monday, January 20, 2003 12:50 PMTo: Multiple recipients of list ORACLE-LSubject: RE: Americas Cup Well, Larry Ellison allegedly has MiG 25 which is an interceptor airplane armed to blow other airplanes out of the sky.
