RE: CA ARCserver Vs. Veritas Backup Exec?
One thing I can mention here, in Veritas NetBackup for NT, the backup set icons are invisible on my NT machines... It's a challenge to identify which backup set you are navigating in... : ) Patrice Boivin Systems Analyst (Oracle Certified DBA) Systems Admin Operations | Admin. et Exploit. des systèmes Technology Services| Services technologiques Informatics Branch | Direction de l'informatique Maritimes Region, DFO | Région des Maritimes, MPO E-Mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -Original Message- From: Gary Weber [SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, July 02, 2001 11:36 AM To: Multiple recipients of list ORACLE-L Subject:CA ARCserver Vs. RE: CA ARCserver Vs. Veritas Backup Exec?
I looked at the CA ARCServer and Legato a while ago. I believe the CA ArcServer uses their own Oracle Agent. Thus you don't use RMAN, so you can't do incremental backups at the block level etc. Which is the reason I didn't go with CA. RE: CA ARCserver Vs. Veritas Backup Exec?
We were running ArcServ to backup everything in our Network Operations Center. We had some problems with ArcServ being slow to do things like restore. As a result we have gone to Veritas and it seems quite a bit faster and more reliable. This is what I hear from our network guys as they are VERY pleased with Veritas. Again, I have limited exposure to both, but the people who used both products on a daily basis around here, favor Veritas hands down.
