RE: Installing iAS 9.0.2.0.1
made the same experiences with iAS 92 and ended up using 9iAS 1.0.2.2 for various reasons. but we will try again, when oracle - hopefully - does provide a more comfortable way of installation. we use portal, single sign on in connection with novel ldap. was quite a toil to get it up and running but now it works fine. did the same with iAS 9.2.0 but response time and performance were horrible so we removed it again and ...see above. good luck [EMAIL PROTECTED] 10/28/02 16:42 PM If you only want it to do web apps it's not a problem. We installed the OC4J and web cache portion on Solaris in an hour. Very easy. Needed it for version 1.3 of Java. Next we will tackle the full install with the infrastructure which will allow the use of Portal, Reports and Discoverer. Expecting big time headaches based on the documentation and the fact that we want to use iPlanet not the OID for our LDAP. Thanks for all the replies. It makes me rethink going to iAS 9.0.2.0.1. Does iAS 1.0.2 require all the same dependencies, i.e. infrastructure install? No, 1.0.2 is a leaner product - no infrastructure required. Re: Installing iAS 9.0.2.0.1
I've been trying off on for about 5 MONTHS to get 9iAS R2 into a useable condition. Either I'm suffering from a bad case of senioritis or this s/w should be classified as User Hostile s/w NOT ready for prime time. I'd like to hear from anybody who has this POS installed in production; especially if it is on some flavor of *nix. TIA HAND! RE: Installing iAS 9.0.2.0.1
Gene, Installed and running all (really!) components on Red Hat, HPUX, and Windows. 9.0.2 is better then 9.0.1, in part because it mostly works out of the box. Get ready to troubleshoot various individual components after initial installation. Wait, you will likely be performing two installations: one for Infrastructure and another for the mid-tier, Business Intelligence, that's the part that includes Forms and Reports, among other things. Forms Server should work out of the box. Reports server likely will not. Retry during configuration wizard may do the trick. Another show stopper - after infrastructure install, OID (Oracle Internet Directory) will listen on port 4032, yet the OID client will by default attempt to connect to port 389 - cost me few hours of frustration. Having gone through this workout few times in recent past, details are still fresh in memory. Please feel free to contact me offline for specifics.
