RE: How set Date format Globally
oh yes but if in a client the parameter NLS_DATE_FORMAT is set to another format , the generic format set in init.ora is not taken. Re: How set Date format Globally
The NLS_DATE_FORMAT on the client always overrides the setting in the init.ora setting. In addition the NLS_LANG setting has an implied NLS_DATE_FORMAT of DD-MON-YY for most settings (see note 93924.1 below for more details) so on Windows clients, where NLS_LANG is set in the registry by default, you must either explicitly set NLS_DATE_FORMAT or remove NLS_LANG (so it defaults to the server's setting). A few docs that address this: Note: 77318.1 "Why is my NLS_DATE_FORMAT parameter setting not taking effect?" Note: 60134.1 "NLS Frequently Asked Questions" Note: 93924.1 "Advisory Warning of change to NLS_DATE_FORMAT Default values" HTH, -- Anita --- Vladimir Begun <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > On Jul 11, 2001 at 12:35:21AM, Rangachari Sundar > wrote: > > Hi, > > > > I have a requirement. Hi, or set NLS_DATE_FORMAT in the registry (32 bits) or oracle.ini (16 bits) in all clients.
