RE: OAS and iAS file size comparisons
Try do download the files when all those Californians are still in bed, they tend to clutter up the 'net. = : ^ o Also, what OS are you running? I find that on my old PC clone at home, Windows95 sometimes corrupts downloads if I tell it to ftp down a file and I keep surfing the net with IE. Better to just leave the machine alone, Windows95 doesn't multitask very well. If you are running NT not taxing the machine too much might help prevent file corruption. Also available on ((hack-hack)) Win ((hack)) 95.. Give it a try it's a great piece of software! RE: OAS and iAS file size comparisons
Another thing to keep in mind with 9iAS (in relation to its size) is it's caching capabilities. How do you think it keeps all that information cached?? Replication. 9iAS also comes with and installs the Oracle database engine in addition to everything else. When you select certain options for caching, it automatically performs data replication from the database server for you. That's probably a huge part of the size of 9iAS in and of itself. -::YEX::- ))) -Original Message- Sent: Thursday, 01 March, 2001 13:01 PM To: Multiple recipients of list ORACLE-L Everything but the kitchen sink.. 9iAS includes Apache, Forms Server, Reports Server, Portal, DB Cache, Discoverer Server, Queue Manager, Wireless if you want it, and possibly others I've left out.
