I don't have that book... don't know if I need it, I'm somewhat domestic in
my off-time anyway, I love to bake and do needlework.

And I have a recipe for a chocolate mousse cake that will beat your
chocolate cake recipe any day. :) And one for REAL NY cheesecake (none of
that wimpy graham cracker crust/sour cream topping stuff).

But yes, I've missed Guy's posts -- both the Friday recipes and the
technical ones.

Hi

Spotlight from Quest and the array of tools from BMC, are all pretty good

RE: Oracle Monitoring Tools

2001-03-14 Thread Nguyen, Long

I am using OEM and its diagnostic pack for the monitoring. I have given me a lot of
frustration. I found that once you get something works with OEM, do
not touch it, since it is very sensitive to changes. OEM support from Oracle WWS has
not been good either. So, my suggestion is, if you look at OEM, you
should also look at other software as well.

For a more reasonably priced tool - Try NORAD Surveillance Module (Was
DBGeneral), it kind of sits in between Spotlight and I/Watch from Quest, as
it will give you the real time data display, and provides the back ground
analysis and alarming functions.

If you want more detailed information contact me off the list (Yes I DO sell
this :).

I downloaded EM.  Trying to install in Windows 2000 environment.  THe first
screen starts up ok, but when I select the install option, it all just fades
away and nothing happens.  No obvious error, no messages logged that I can
see, etc.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

John
