Re: FW: RE: Unix File Open Port Open

2001-06-04 Thread Viraj Luthra

Hello all,

I have got the lsof utility, but would like to know what useful information that I can
draw from here?

This may sound strange but is there any information that I can draw from lsof and
correlate with the systems performance stats? Also is there any useful info. that I
can infer from say netstat, and fuser and correlate with the systems performance like
CPU usage, or disk/processes?

Rgds,

raja

I like lsof for this purpose. You can see which processes have which
filehandles and ports open to which hosts. It is an excellent utility.

RE: Unix File Open Port Open

2001-05-31 Thread Austin, Steve S

The only I know of way to see which process has a port open in Solaris is to
use lsof (there's a package on sunfreeware.com -- including source).
netstat and /proc aren't enough as far as I can see... It's not clear what
exactly you need to know, but hope this helps...
