RE: ora-1017 invalid username/password when trying to login as internal
Oracle 8.1.6/WinNT I get ora-1017 invalid username/password when trying to connect as internal. I have recreated password file many times to no avail. Usually this all I have had to do in the past for this error. I have tried all combinations of remote_login_passwordfile. I was getting connected earlier. I had to a shutdown but cannot get server up. Luckily it is a relatively used development server. Any ideas on how to correct? Just my guess, look at the registry parameter ORA_SID_PWFILE(Sorry my knowledge is limited to NT only) and see if it is pointing to the right file. Try restarting the service. Are you running more than one DB on the same server? by the way, if you find out the exact reason why this is happening do put it in the List. I had this problem before and the cause was traced to sqlnet.ora. After commenting out a line ( sorry don't remember which line ) in that file the issue went away.
