Has anyone encountered this one? TIA

Re: RMAN Error
Tamizh, You are probably running out of space in the file-system you were located within when you invoked RMAN. It would be better to specify a full path-name in the "FORMAT=" clause (i.e. specify directory as well as filename), to make sure that the file-system where you are creating the backupsets is the one you intend. Hope this helps... -Tim > Hi List, > > I am getting the following RMAN error. RMAN error - can someone help ?
Hi, My target instance is 9.2.0.4 on Host A ( Ms-win2k + SP3 ). My recovery catalog is also 9.2.0.4 on Host B ( Ms-win2k + SP3 ). My target destination for backup files is R:\ which resides on Host C (WinNT).This drive R:\ is common to both Host A and B. Things work fine accessing R:\ from both Host A and B. I tried a TSPITR following the doc. 180436.1. It is for 8i. Question #1: is it applicable for 9i also ? If YES, when i say (on Host A,the target), run { ALLOCATE AUXILIARY CHANNEL A1 TYPE DISK; ALLOCATE CHANNEL c1 TYPE DISK; recover tablespace users until time "TO_DATE('MAR-05-2002 11:27:00', 'MON-DD- HH:MI:SS')"; } i get the error below: channel a1: starting datafile backupset restore channel a1: specifying datafile(s) to restore from backup set restoring datafile 1 to D:\ORACLE\ORA92\DATABASE\;\SYSTEM01.DBF released channel: a1 released channel: c1 RMAN-00571: == RMAN-00569: === ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS = RMAN-00571: == RMAN-03002: failure of recover command at 09/16/2003 17:48:32 RMAN-03015: error occurred in stored script Memory Script ORA-19504: failed to create file "D:\ORACLE\ORA92\DATABASE\;\SYSTEM01.DBF" ORA-27040: skgfrcre: create error, unable to create file OSD-04002: unable to open file O/S-Error: (OS 3) Path not found. Question #3: though it is not restore path, why does RMAN's Memory script append ";\" in the path i.e.,"D:\ORACLE\ORA92\DATABASE\;\SYSTEM01.DBF" this is where it fails. can someone explain me where the problem is ? Re: RMAN error registering database
Without having better information (i.e. I assume you are running Oracle between 8.1.6 and 8.1.7.2), I would say that you are running into bug 1467871 fixed in 9i and patched in 8.1.7.3 and 4. The work around is to recreate your control file, thus loosing all your backup information stored in the control file. You can capture this information manually via a controlfile dump, but it isn't of much use to you (and besides that it can reoccur if you don't apply the patch). Not necessarily a horrid problem, but certainly good to move past. You should upgrade to 8.1.7.3 (or 9i) and then upgrade your catalog in order to avoid this problem in the future. You need to upgrade your catalog after applying the patchset: RMAN> CONNECT CATALOG RMAN> UPGRADE CATALOG; Regards, Michael SaleAuthor: Oracle9i for Windows(R) 2000 Tips & Techniques when I try to register my database in RMAN, I get the following error..RMAN-08002: starting full resync of recovery catalogRMAN-03026: error recovery releasing channel resourcesRMAN-00571: ===RMAN-00569: === ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===RMAN-00571: ===RMAN-03008: error while performing automatic resync of recovery catalogRMAN-07004: unhandled exception during command execution on channel defaultRMAN-10035: exception raised in RPC: ORA-01403: no data foundRMAN-10031: ORA-1403 occurred during call to DBMS_RCVCAT.CHECKBACKUPPIECEdoes anyone know how to get around this problem...I have an ITAR open with oracle right now and wanted to try this forum while I am waiting on a resolution.TIADanny HughesDBAKnobias.com601-978-3399 x103[EMAIL PROTECTED]www.knobias.com--Please see the official ORACLE-L FAQ: http://www.orafaq.com--Author: Danny HughesINET: [EMAIL PROTECTED]Fat City Network Services -- (858) 538-5051 FAX: (858) 538-5051San Diego, California -- Public Internet access / Mailing ListsTo REMOVE yourself from this mailing list, send an E-Mail messageto: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (note EXACT spelling of 'ListGuru') and inthe message BODY, include a line containing: UNSUB ORACLE-L(or the name of mailing list you want to be removed from). Sona, Try setting the NLS_DATE_FORMAT="DD-MON- 24HH:MI:SS" at the OS level. Then in your RMAN script you should specify the point in time date as follows: set until time '31-JAN-2002 23:05:00'; It should work (I've tested it). RE: RMAN error - can someone help ?
It looks like you don't have your ORACLE_SID specified correctly since, if I read this correctly, the database you are trying to restore is on dick c:. Set you ORACLE_SID which will be the target and try again. Hi, My target instance is 9.2.0.4 on Host A ( Ms-win2k + SP3 ). My recovery catalog is also 9.2.0.4 on Host B ( Ms-win2k + SP3 ). RMAN error when deleting archivefiles on tape
Dear RMAN Wizards I have this problem with a script for deleting archive file on tape. The story is that this script has worked perfect for more than a 2 year until the database and there by rman was upgraded to 8.1.7.4 from 8.1.6..x. The media manager is TSM (IBM Tivoli) and everything is running on a Win NT 4 sp 6a. The odd thing is that backup and restore works OK, this was tested. The NT box is using TSM to send the the backup to a MVS that has the tape robot attached. I have looked at Metalink / Google and IBM Web support without getting a sensible clue. -- Start Fri 03/01/2003 10:29 Recovery Manager: Release 8.1.7.4.1 - Production RMAN-06005: connected to target database: TMSPRD8 (DBID=4183866567) RMAN-06008: connected to recovery catalog database RMAN> allocate channel for delete type 'SBT_TAPE'; 2> change backuppiece '/archivefiles/af_TMSPRD8_480164575_21631_1' delete; 3> change backuppiece '/archivefiles/af_TMSPRD8_480197119_21669_1' delete; 4> change backuppiece '/archivefiles/af_TMSPRD8_480197446_21670_1' delete; 5> change backuppiece '/archivefiles/af_TMSPRD8_480197663_21671_1' delete; 6> change backuppiece '/archivefiles/af_TMSPRD8_480197810_21672_1' delete; 7> change backuppiece '/archivefiles/af_TMSPRD8_480250980_21673_1' delete; 8> change backuppiece '/archivefiles/af_TMSPRD8_480251087_21674_1' delete; 9> change backuppiece '/archivefiles/af_TMSPRD8_480251194_21675_1' delete; 10> change backuppiece '/archivefiles/af_TMSPRD8_480251313_21676_1' delete; 11> change backuppiece '/archivefiles/af_TMSPRD8_480251421_21677_1' delete; 12> change backuppiece '/archivefiles/af_TMSPRD8_480251531_21678_1' delete; 13> change backuppiece '/archivefiles/af_TMSPRD8_480251648_21679_1' delete; 14> change backuppiece '/archivefiles/af_TMSPRD8_480284960_21717_1' delete; 15> change backuppiece '/archivefiles/af_TMSPRD8_480285117_21718_1' delete; 16> change backuppiece '/archivefiles/af_TMSPRD8_480285323_21719_1' delete; 17> change backuppiece '/archivefiles/af_TMSPRD8_480285480_21720_1' delete; 18> release channel; 19> exit; RMAN-03022: compiling command: allocate RMAN-03023: executing command: allocate RMAN-08030: allocated channel: delete RMAN-08500: channel delete: sid=71 devtype=SBT_TAPE RMAN-08526: channel delete: Tivoli Data Protection for Oracle: version 2.2.0.0 RMAN-03022: compiling command: change RMAN-03023: executing command: DELETE RMAN-03026: error recovery releasing channel resources RMAN-00571: === RMAN-00569: === ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS === RMAN-00571: === RMAN-03006: non-retryable error occurred during execution of command: change RMAN-07004: unhandled exception during command execution on channel delete RMAN-10035: exception raised in RPC: ORA-19509: failed to delete sequential file, handle="/archivefiles/af_TMSPRD8_480164575_21631_1", parms="" ORA-27027: sbtremove2 returned error ORA-19511: ANS0238E (RC2041) The sequence of calls is invalid. Are you sure $ORACLE_HOME is properly set in shell executing RMAN? When registering a database in rman, it usually makes a controlfile backup copy under $ORACLE_HOME/dbs or database directory.
