Ruth,

You are most welcome! Glad you found it of use.

Most interesting to me in particular was the bit
about BSE. Fascinating, really.

It's been on the site for almost a year, but the
news that this could be about organophosphate
blood toxification is just getting recognized
by the mainstream press.

Ross,
Thanks for the website cite! It has some very interested information. I
use olive oil and vegetable oil for cooking except for pies and nothing but
butter on toast. I now feel vindicated. And we eat lot of beef and pork
that we have raised whenever possible.

We are in an organic buyers club that was set up by local
farmers. We also always buy organic milk (at Safeway!), and
try to get organic/natural meats. I used to sell feed, mostly
organic, and could get excellent lamb @ $60/100lbs since a
semi-retired farmer that was a customer liked to help out
the employees. Talk about some awesome bar-b-qs!!!

This article chronicles the amazing depths of stupidity that
the bureaucracy is capable of descending to:

The specifics are *very* similar to what I heard on a flight
to europe about 8 years ago from a dentist who practices
poison dental metal removal underground in the USA.

Since advocating removal of poison dental metal is illegal
per the USA dental certification establishment, this guy was
going to Germany to attend a conference on legitimate
scientific research into effects of poison metal on the
formal of abnormal prions in people. It appears that MS,
AIDS and a lot of chronic fatigue syndrome is caused by
(or at least involved with) abnormal prion formation.

I don't think that the experts are telling anyone that Mad Cow Disease is
not transferrable to humans. It causes death in humans and cannot be killed
by cooking at normal temperature.

Hoof and Mouth disease is not transferrable to humans and should not be
confused with the common human affliction Foot in Mouth disease.

It is the former that may destroy the livestock industry in Europe and lead
to turning lots of folks into vegetarians.

We raise our own beef so I am not going to turn into a vegetarian.

 Rachel,

The "experts" tell us that the disease only affects certain animals but
not
humans, even if you eat meat contaminated with disease. I'm not

It you want great corn feed beef (the reason for mad
cow is how they feed their livestock) visit the Omaha
 Steaks web page.

The US should never have any of these problems. We
feed our cattle with grains such as corn. We should
not have a problem with hoof and mouth because we
vaccinate our cattle against such diseases.

RE: eek!

2001-03-01 Thread Boivin, Patrice J

Last night on a game forum someone wrote that he was driving a truck
"between Microsoft buildings." He was at a traffic light, and he thought
"Is it ever windy! Look at those lights sway back and forth." He noticed
that the truck in front of him was swaying too, he thought it must have been
some wicked wind tunnel effect between the buildings.

Then he noticed that the buildings were swaying too and people were running
out of them, he finally realized what was going on.

: )

He didn't mention anything about the Microsoft buildings collapsing.

I was thinking - a seismologist on CBC said that "the big one" would
probably be centered off-shore, so not to worry about the effects of this
one. OK, if the "big one" is centered off-shore, all these measures
architects are taking in California to build quake-resistant buildings will
be for naught, it won't protect them from any tidal waves...

So how are things post earth quake?. Did you need to invoke any of your DR

It's a hell of a wake up call to remind one why DR plans are important.

The earthquake made news here in Ireland along with the impending foot

Hummm!! Must be a week for disasters. We've had a multi DB development box
crashing for the first 3 days of this week. Right now the HP rep is in there
with his head inside the chassis parts all over the place outside!! Sure that
earthquake was in the NorthWest? Looks like splattered quite a bit over here
too!! Thank God tomorrow's Friday! :-)

As a part of my daily calls yesterday - imagine my shock when I phoned for a
regular contact of mine - to find that he was IN the train crash!!! He came
out OK though according to the receptionist, although he did lose his mobile
phone :( I just feel for the families of the ones that didn't make it.

I'm also about 25 miles away from a case of Foot Mouth!

Sean,

I read about that crash this morning -- horrifying! And they are saying
there is something like $1 billion worth of damage from the quake. My
friends in Gresham (Oregon) felt it as well.

Dennis,

So how are things post earth quake?. Did you need to invoke any of your DR
Plan?. If so, sharing your experience on this would be useful after the
dust settles =:-0

It's a hell of a wake up call to remind one why DR plans are important.

The earthquake made news here in Ireland along with the impending foot
mouth disease crisis and even mentioned ahead of bad rail crash in England
across the Irish sea where lives were lost.

Actually we had our HP cluster crash today as well. First
one side went. Got that all back up and then the other side
went. Since I am in Gresham, OR we are blaming it on the earthquake.
Couldn't find a reason not to. So far management seems to
be buying it.

Don't bet on it!

One of the largest faults in the country goes through Omaha, Ne heading
north to the edges of South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota! How
do I know? My house is built directly over the fault! Fortunately, it
isn't very active! but I do have an earthquake rider on my homeowners
