iSQLPlus Problem
I have a DELL 8200 with XP Prof. and I have installed 9i (9.0.1). When I look at installed products with the Universal Installer it says that iSQL Plus is installed at: c:\oracle\ora90\oracle_prod\ However, when I look at my C: drive I only have: c:\oracle\ora90\ "oracle_prod" is not there and neitherare any apps for iSQL Plus. What is wrong? Thanks, Ken Janusz, CPIM

RE: regarding isqlPlus
The documentation states Earlier versions of the Oracle database may work, but only Oracle 8i 8.1.7 (Release 3) is supported. The important thing is to have Oracle's Apache HTTP server, which comes with either 8.1.7 or 9iAS. I have it installed under 9iAS with an 8.1.7 database and it seems just fine. RE: regarding isqlPlus
We have installed iSQLPlus on our development box, and it seems to work fairly well. The nice thing about it is you don't have to install the client on the user's PC, it just uses a browser. It does have a bug or two - for example, if the user does not click on the "Logoff" button and just closes the browser window, a session is left open in the database. I'd be hesitant about using it in a production environment until they at least get that fixed. You do have to have an 8.1.7 database installed with the Apache web server, although you might be able to get away with a lower version of the database as long as you're using Apache. We are using an 8.1.7 database and the Apache web server installed with 9iAS, all under NT (not my choice - I'm going to move the web server to Linux as soon as I can get a box configured). hth, Robin Robin Ilardi Sherian Corporation -Original Message-From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Saurabh SharmaSent: Monday, June 11, 2001 2:35 AMTo: Multiple recipients of list ORACLE-LSubject: regarding isqlPlus hi all, has anybody using iSqlPlus tool, provided by oracle. what i know is , it's the internat enabled extension of sql * plus, utilising the 3-tier architecture. they say oracle 8.1.7 is required for the implementation. any suggestions. saurabh
Re: regarding isqlPlus
Hi, yes I have tried working with isqlplus. It gets installed fine and works fine too. There is a proper installation doc following which it could be installed. It is buggy as you can expect it to be. everyone who used it at our place liked it (though I had the headache of killing the sessions which it had left hanging. If you close the browser window it does not end the session, one has to logoff to end it!!) Re: isqlPlus
All you need is Oracle 8.1.7 with the http server (apache) up and running. The server comes as part of the install at least for Enterprise Edition (never checked out Standard Edition). After you install you will see an apache directory under the $ORACLE_HOME directory Jon Baker Database Engineer (1/5) [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.netsec.net Luis DeUrioste wrote: I'm interested in using iSQL but I can't figure out where to install it from? 9iAS, 8i1.7, DEVELOPER 6i ?
