Cloud Systems Engineer plays a critical role in our success. Successful
candidates will possess a high degree of self-management, personal
accountability, strong communication and business acumen. Continual
knowledge transfer, training and mentoring of more junior staff is
expected. All Engineers are expected to participate in an on call rotation
for off-hours escalations with other members of their dedicated support
team.
- Technical/Operational/Functional Expertise
- Work with team to plan, design and deploy cloud infrastructure.
- Build and improve automation tools to streamline our day-to-day
operations.
- Provide monitoring, maintenance and on-call support for systems,
infrastructure, and services
- Build, Manage and maintain Chef cookbooks for server systems.
- Execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet
changing needs and requirements.
- Participate in daily scrums, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and
architecture review meetings, effectively applying agile project
methodologies.
- Keep operations documentation relevant and up-to-date.
- Enforce operations and security policies in the hosted environment.
- Help ensure that customer SLAs are met at all times.
- Communicate regularly with development and support teams regarding
system status and implementation schedules.
- Leadership
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to
communicate with customers, vendors and partners, and across all
levels of
the organization
- Explaining issues and presenting a clear cloud strategy across
e-Builder
- Leading roadmap discussions with regards to the cloud in
conjunction with the development and QA teams
Your goals will include:
Meeting and achieving goals for Key Performance Indicators, Service Level
Agreements and Operating Level Agreements
- Communicate, Design and Implement and Secure Cloud presences
- Creating, Defining, Managing, Tracking and Improving processes to
ensure effective services are being provided
Attributes/Skills Required:
- 3 to 5 years Windows System administration and engineering experience,
specifically Windows 2008 and 2012
- Well versed in internet architectures, including web, application,
and database components such as IIS, Microsoft SQL and Windows Server
- Must have strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Must
be able to take on an issue and see it through until completely resolved.
- Firm Understanding of virtualization and cloud platforms,
especially AWS and VMware
- Familiarity with continuous deployment methodology and other common
DevOps tools including Git, Jenkins, TeamCity, Capistrano and
configuration
tools such as Chef, Puppet, Salt, and Ansible
- Medium level scripting skills in languages such as Bash, Python,
Ruby, PHP, etc.
- Understanding of firewalls, NAT and packet filtering (specifically
IPtables)
- Experience with application load balancing solutions for scaling
and High Availablity
- Experience with SANs and NAS including iSCSI, NFS (Isilon) and FC
- Foundational knowledge in networking technologies (Layer 2 & 3
switches, TCP/IP, SNMP, etc.)
- Ability and flexibility to join in on an on-call rotation for
escalations in support of our 24x7x365 operation
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience or familiarity with Security Certifications such as PCI,
SOC2, ISO 27001, FISMA/FedRAMP and HIPAA a plus
- Hands-on understanding of PaaS and SaaS Cloud computing models
