*Job description:*
The Performance Test Engineer will support the company's Systems
Performance testing objectives; the candidate must be familiar with
standard software development and quality processes, methodologies, and
tools. Must have a proven track record of very high technical competence
that includes strong coding and or scripting skills. They will develop high
quality detailed test plans, results artifacts, identify and create
detailed performance test cases, test scripts that map to appropriate
requirements and design specifications. The engineer will be responsible
for developing and executing extensive application performance tests and
analyzing performance of Infrastructure stack and application and provide
recommendations for optimization. An individual with a strong background in
performance testing and Analyzing multi-tier applications, and web
applications is well suited for this position. Knowledge of multiple
application infrastructures and strong communication skills are required
for this position.

*RESPONSIBILITIES*
Identify and develop relationships with key individuals and groups
 Maintain current and accurate status of work assignments
Understand functional content of assigned release/projects and the
potential performance impacts
Understand and validate performance test objectives
Optimize test cycle efficiency and effectiveness using automation
Maintain a working knowledge of test environment logical and physical
software and hardware architectures
Ensure application of performance testing best practices at an individual
and team level
Analyze performance test results and share with business, development and
internal team members as appropriate
Design and implement the technical infrastructure for performance test
automation for each project
Maintain the performance test automation environment
Investigate and troubleshoot performance problems in the performance
testing environments
Utilize performance/load testing methodologies to identify software
optimization opportunities, potential system bottlenecks and performance
problems
Monitor and gather the performance statistics during the test execution
Create performance documents/artifacts: test plans, test designs, test
cases and present testing summary reports
Collaborate with performance testing leads, managers, and test members to
identify and automate performance tests for specified applications
Translate performance specifications/requirements/criteria into effective
test designs and test cases
Participate in up front application and technology requirement gathering,
design and functionality reviews when required, to drive the quantitative
definition of performance requirements
Participate in the creation and review of performance testing plans,
partitioning, test designs and test automation code
Install, support, understand, and use the performance testing tools
effectively
Investigate and troubleshoot performance problems in a lab environment.
This will also include analysis of performance problems in a production
environment
Develop test scenarios to properly load / stress the system in a lab
environment and monitor / debug performance & stability problems. This
would require monitoring and debugging technical components including key
resources, performance indicators and logs
Identify performance test data and coordinate the load of the data in the
performance environment.
Develop components of test architecture for a new platform.
Interact with test team leads as appropriate.
Implement elements of the Performance testing and Automation testing
framework for the product.
Implement elements of the functionality test harness for execution on
automated testing platforms.
Interact with development engineers to implement functional interface
applications when necessary.
Participate in documentation reviews for functional test automation
documents developed by manual testing team.

*EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:*
Required:
* 5+ years experience in the performance engineering discipline required
* 5+ years experience with Client quality and performance test toolset
(Load Runner and Jmeter) required.
* Strong understanding of the QE process, especially in an Agile
environment
* Recent IP/VOIP telephony experience.
* Strong experience in test case writing and LR scenario designing.
* Experience in sql queries and Linux environment.
* Knowledge of quality metrics.
* Proven ability to perform profile/baseline, load and stress testing
* Proven ability to drill down into results and complete deep dive root
cause analysis

Implement performance regression framework for testing the SPS and Internal
Applications system using Client Performance Center and Visual Studio-based
harness. Create testing solutions in response to changing business or
project needs.

Key Areas of Responsibility
Works with development and business to identify top-priority test cases and
the performance requirements against which the success will be measured
Consults with project test leads to integrate an application source code
with test harness in order to create performance test cases.
Creates performance test cases using .NET application source code and .NET
protocol
Defines strategy allowing the relationship between the size of performance
regression portfolio and execution effort not to be linear. Defines
procedures and checklists to build and incorporate new test cases into
existing performance testing portfolio.
For each new addition to performance regression defines testing scope,

guidelines to facilitate coordination with overall QA Performance team

Designs, builds, and, maintains, prioritizes and executes test cases using

monitoring via SiteScope, Performance Monitor and Performance Navigator
Conducts testing, analyzes results, creates comprehensive Stoplight test
results reports and submits to project stakeholders
Communicates test status and metrics to project stakeholders according to
performance testing standards after each test
Reports and manages defects according to established processes, ensuring
accurate and timely entry into ALM
Leads and/or participates in peer reviews of project deliverables.

Qualifications
3-5 years of experience with Client/Mercury LoadRunner and/or Performance
Center
Experience with ADO.NET, .Net remoting, WCF, .Net Security, Web Services
and HTTP protocols
Experience with LR plug-ins and Visual Studio
2-3 or more years of experience with .NET and C# development
1-2 or more years of experience using and reporting results with SiteScope
3-4 or more years of experience with the white-box testing
Degree in Information Technology or equivalent work experience.

oBe able to understand & determine bottlenecks in different
databases

§ Sound understanding in using the tools for DB analysis,
understanding in interpreting diagnostics report & provide recommendation

§ Query profiling, analysis & recommendation for optimization

oNice to have experience in Sterling Yantra & Trade Stone solutions

oNice to have understanding of applying mathematical models for
Capacity & similar operations’ approach

oShould have understanding on memory management

Skills/Experience:
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
5+ years experience in the QA discipline, including writing performance test
plans, developing test scenarios, and participating in reviews
EXTENSIVE experience with LoadRunner
Experience with performance testing web-based high-volume transactional
systems
Experience with performance testing websites, web services, and
client-server applications
Experience with .NET technologies
