This group is the big data engineering group and they provide guidance for the rest of the firm. They are basically an SME on top of the big data. The program mostly involves a lot of migrations. Various teams are on one platform and they are looking to migrate off of that platform. For example, the team is using Oracle or Sybase or Exedata and wants to migrate to Hadoop. On a daily basis, this candidate will be determining the right component to be used for the task at hand (ex. Impala vs Hive vs Hbase), help profiling applications/jobs (ex. Spark), understand integration points. The ideal candidate has come from a large enterprise background and has the ability to work on leading edge, big data initiatives. Java experience and Hadoop Experience (specifically with Spark, Hive, Impala and scoop) are must haves. Kafka is a "nice to have," as well as DBA experience and security framework experience. Additional Information: Work Environment: The work environment can be high pressured at times due to deadline intensive projects.
