Re: [OGD] orchid eating and medicine
Hey Jay, This was the editable encyclopedia I was speaking of. This will be the future, and you can have full control of it if you want to get on board with your project. We can even get some programmers to write scripts to incorporate all your data into one of these. http://www.paphiopedia.com/wiki/index.php/Paphiopedilum_anitum Give it a look, edit it where you want. I am interested in your opinions on it. Steve Topletz ___ the OrchidGuide Digest (OGD) orchids@orchidguide.com http://orchidguide.com/mailman/listinfo/orchids_orchidguide.com
[OGD] Chysis Langleyensis
I received as a gift, Chysis Langleyensis v Desert Sunset, the label states that the flower is orange and it has been selfed. It originates from Gubler Orchids. I have not been able to obtain any information about it, including a search in Google, is it a hybrid?, if so ,from what parentage, which are the cultural conditions?.The plant is in very bad condition, the medium was rotten and the roots reduced to an string, how thick are they soposed to be? Any suggestions as how to save it?. Any information will be appreciated. [OGD] Foliar Feeding.
Title: Foliar Feeding. Steve, thank you for the reference. I am not too sure that they are authorities but it does provide food for thought, at least for Cattleya culture. The fact that they list Cymbidium as a CAM plant causes me to be cautious. Private research in The Netherlands has not confirmed this. The spectacular success of Jerry's Grow could only be explained by foliar feeding. Apparently the incorporated methanol allowed fertilizer to pass across the cuticle or through the stomata in some extremely efficient way as fertilizer concentration, per se, was very low. No-one has ever grown Cymbidiums or Cattleyas faster than Jerry Rodder anywhere in the world. His climate in Central California helped but it had to have been his fertilizer that provided the main stimulus.
