[Origami] Origami exhibit at The Cooper Union

2014-05-28 Thread Uyen Nguyen
Hello fellow origami enthusiasts,

I am curating an exhibition of origami artwork titled Surface to Structure:
Folded Forms (you might already be aware of this). To cover exhibition
expenses, I am raising money through Indiegogo. There are only 2 days left
until the end of the *Surface to Structure* Indiegogo campaign! So far,
we’ve raised nearly $20,000 but we still have a ways to go to reach our
funding goal of $32,000. As a LAST PUSH effort to raise the remaining
funds, I am offering a bonus gift to *all contributors, regardless of
donation amount*.

IF WE REACH OUR GOAL OF $32,000 BY THE END OF THE CAMPAIGN, I WILL MAIL
EVERY SINGLE CONTRIBUTOR A FEW SHEETS OF LASER-CUT, LASER-SCORED PAPER AND
POST A YOUTUBE INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO TO MAKE A CURVED FOLDING SCULPTURE.

If we reach our goal and I do this mailing of the laser-scored paper, what
you receive will be a surprise: I'll put together a random assortment of my
favorite colors of stardream (one of my favorite papers), and I might throw
in some wacky shapes to fold too, instead of just curved patterns. You can
see images of of forms similar to what you might be able to create, using
the paper that I will laser-cut, on our Indiegogo updates page:
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/surface-to-structure-folded-forms/x/5697755#activity

We are also offering a lot of cool origami swag, like t-shirts, crease
pattern mugs, and calendars as thanks for your donations. We've also
prepared the exhibition catalog, which will contain over 160 pages and
include 10 x10 inch full-color images of each work of art from the show.
You can check out our other perks and read more information about the
exhibition and what the funds will be used for on our Indiegogo page here:
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/surface-to-structure-folded-forms/x/5697755#home

We are in the process of updating our website
www.SurfacetoStructure.com which
now includes a complete list of participating artists and a news page with
links to articles and artistic blogs that have featured this exhibition.
We'll soon add a page to include events such as our opening reception, and
details about the gallery hours and a location map.

Please consider funding this amazing exhibition, and please spread the word
along to anyone you know who may be interested.

Thanks to those of you who have already supported *Surface to Structure:
Folded Forms*, and regardless of whether you choose to donate, we hope to
see you this summer at The Cooper Union!
Thank you,
Uyen Nguyen and The *Surface to Structure* Exhibition Team
