The exhibit was indeed wonderful, and congratulations are due to both the organizers and the artists involved. Unfortunately for those of us who missed the indiegogo campaign, the exhibition catalog is sold out...but Uyen mentioned that *if there is enough interest* she would consider reprinting it. The sample copy was full of beautiful photos of the pieces on display so if you missed the exhibit (or saw the exhibit but want a copy anyway like me), you can add your name to the waiting list here: http://www.surfacetostructure.com/catalog-waiting-list (And now I'll go back to lurking.)

Forwarded from below: If interested, respond directly to Emily. -- Forwarded message -- From: Emily Soyeong Lee Date: Wed, Jul 23, 2014 at 4:03 PM Subject: Seeking Origami Instructor for 2014 IYF World Camp To: calen...@origamiusa.org, ad...@origamiusa.org Dear OrigamiUSA, Hello. My name is Emily Lee of International Youth Fellowship (IYF). IYF is a registered 501(c)3 organization with the mission of providing spiritual, intellectual, and emotional growth to young people around the world so that they may become selfless servant leaders. One of the main events we offer our youth is to build their leadership skills and cultural awareness through our annual IYF World Camp, which will run from August 24-28, 2014. The IYF Academy is a workshop opportunity during the IYF World Camp where students meet professionals like you from all walks of life and experience your craft and skill firsthand. I am writing today to invite you to participate as a volunteer instructor for a Origami Academy. During your academy class we would like you to teach students how to make origami. Our students can learn a lot from your artistic history and experience. Through your academy class, our students will be inspired to challenge their study habits, pursue their passions, and strive to become leaders like yourself. The IYF Academy complements several other programs that enhance the spiritual and mental growth of our young people, such as cultural dances and exhibitions, music concerts, fellowship and counseling, keynote speakers, and physical challenges like the IYF Scavenger Hunt and Short-distance Marathon, all enjoyed in large and small group settings. The additional education and enlightenment that comes with the IYF Academy makes the IYF World Camp a truly unique offering. Your Origami Academy Class will be held at the Mahanaim School in Huntington, NY. Your academy class will be for one hour in the morning starting from Monday, August 25th through Thursday, August 28th. I am including 2 World Camp flyers: - page 1 and page 2 of the 2014 IYF World Camp flyer I am also including two videos to help you get a better sense of IYF World Camp: 1. [Origami] Fabric tessellations
Hi, While teaching a course of origami for industrial designers, in Holon Institute of Technology, I searched the net for examples of using origami in the design world. I found this site: https://www.facebook.com/Smwks/photos_stream it is in Arabic, so I can’t have any more details, but for sure, I never saw such an elaborate collection of fabric tessellation! A real treat for the eye! And they give a lot of diagrams and stitching diagrams, so you can try your hand with it. Enjoy, Ilan Garibi אילן גריבי אמן אוריגמי 0503275345 www.garibiorigami.com

Re: [Origami] Origami Cartoon Sighting
FYI for everyone interested in origami cartoons: For quite some time now, I've been posting origami cartoons every Sunday morning on my blog (including the recent WuMo one linked by Mark). Most are origami with some that are origami-related. Whenever possible, I've tried to credit my source for the find. Anyone interested in what I've collected together in the past can just click on the "cartoon" category (although I don't know if blogger limits how far back you can click in regards to categories; so the other search option is check the month/date/year in the archives). http://havepaperwilltravel.blogspot.com/search/label/cartoons I have future cartoons scheduled to post on Sunday all the way up through October, currently. michael http://havepaperwilltravel.blogspot.com/
