[Origami] 'One Crease' wins R&D Award

2014-07-25 Thread origami
Hi Everyone,

Some of you may be familiar with my One Crease technique -- a piece was
included in the recent 'Surface to Structure' exhibition.

A Vancouver-based architectural practice recently took up the challenge to
make them on a large scale, in steel. The results are here:
http://www.architectmagazine.com/metal/award-one-fold_o.aspx?dfpzone=general
which won them the 2014 Research & Development award from the American
Institute of Architects.

All they need now is a client.

Best wishes,
Paul Jackson

[Origami] DC/Maryland/Virginia origami meetup Aug 5

2014-07-25 Thread Azulet
Dear folders/friends in DC/Maryland/Virginia area,
I am visiting the area on Aug 5 and have scheduled a meetup for interested
folders, note that this is on a week night, not weekend. The format is similar
to how the OMGNYC group hosts our week night meetings (public venue, casual
folding, paper/teaching provided, lots of fun).

If you are on meetup, feel free to rsvp on the site. If not, you can email me
directly and i can add you as a guest on the rsvp to get an idea of count.

The things that come to mind are some masks, hats (flasher hats in
particular), and boxes.

There are other examples of each, but I think all of these qualify as more
complex than low intermediate.

Good luck,
