[Origami] 27th German Origami Convention Review

2015-05-12 Thread Alexander Kurth

Hey there, folders!

A week ago the German Origami Convention ended and now I have made a 5
minutes video to show you how it was.
We had a great time, several cool foreign folders like Ilan Garibi, Mark
Bolitho, Paul Jackson, Mark Kennedy, Beata Kupczak and Tom Crain where
there.

It was so much fun, inspiring and interesting.

Hope I can give you a small overview:

Best wishes from germany and many folds,

Dear Dawn,

Re suggestions for two action models

Here is one suggestion.

Kids and I like the 'kissing lips' action model, although for that age I
would suggest calling it 'talking mouth' to avoid the yuk response.

It's all right isosceles triangles (*not* diaper fold), with one scalene
triangle (this sentence is for you, Mark Kennedy).

I have folded it with classes of gr. 4 and gr. 8 students (in under 30',
with kids helping each other) and both levels liked it.

Will send you photos.

Hope you're well.

Patsy

I hope someone will provide you with Rae Cooker's contact info and that
you'll kindly pass along this folder's thanks for years of Christmas trees
adorned with that lovely teardrop!

Re: [Origami] Advice for models to teach to kiddos (FWD)

2015-05-12 Thread Faye E. Goldman
I've been asked to teach origami action models to a class of 20 kids, from
2nd to 5th, for the space of one hour. I will try to bring along a helper
if I can. May I have some suggestions for TWO models that many kids of that
age range could likely fold in the space of an hour? Thanks in advance!

I get a great response from the hopping frog made of green 3x5 cards.
It's not an action model, but pipe-cleaner flowers are easy and a great crowd
pleaser.
Yami's spinner is a good choice, also.
