[Origami] Fortune Tellers - age of discovery
First grade for me but I can't remember if the Fortune Teller or the Water Bomb came first. Both were popular with boys and girls. My family is from Eastern Europe but I was born and grew up in Berkeley, California. In first grade, Japanese American children who had been born in the camps of Utah and Colorado returned to the Bay Area. I was too young to understand the horror that pushed my own family from Europe and the Japanese Americans from their homes in Northern California. Louise in NorCal
Re: [Origami] Fortune Tellers
You may not be familiar with Bennett Arnstein and my Spike Ball family of modular origami modules but if you are interested in the fortune teller shape, you may want to look at them. The models are based on different polyhedral and look like fortune tellers glued together, although the modules are linked by tabs and pockets. You can see lots of examples by searching google's images for spike ball. Other people made videos of the spike ball(12 modules), super spike ball(24 modules) and super duper spike ball(53 modules) on youtube. These models are based on square fortune tellers. There are also modules based on triangles.
