[Origami] OrigamiConnect Feburary 2016 online class

2016-01-30 Thread Mary Williams Drews
OrigamiUSA is proud to announce the next event in the new series of live
online classes that you can take over the web: Origami Connect!

https://origamiusa.org/connect

The Origami Connect web page lists real-time, interactive, online origami
events though Spring 2016. You can get information on the 4 scheduled
events, each only $5, and each can be viewed by as many people as can fit in
front of your computer (which is all you will need). For those who can't
make it to the live interactive session, or wish to review the presentation,
a link to the recording will provided.

The Sunday, February 21, 2016 - 2:00pm to 4:00pm US Eastern time zone event
will be "Reaching Utopia" presented by Ekaterina (Kate) Lukasheva.

This workshop features the Utopia origami modular designed by Kate. The
modular has distorted pyramids that seem to float separately from the body
of the model. Since the pyramids do not lie on the surface of the model,
Kate named the module Utopia which can be translated from the Greek as "no
place" (ou="not" + topos="place").

In addition to teaching the model, Kate will explain the idea behind the
module and how it can be folded from various paper sizes. She will also give
a glimpse into her creation process.

We hope you will join us!

Please visit https://origamiusa.org/connect for details, a time zone
converter, and registration information.

Best Regards,

Mary Drews

2016-01-30 Thread cafeina
The online site, New York Social Diary, for today features "Well lived
lives" including a rerun of a previous article on Steven Steinberg, the
late owner of New York Central Art Supplies.

Approximately half way through the photo/article are some sketches of
"difficult customers" including 2 about folders.

Warning: the sketches are not complimentary to folders.
