Re: [Origami] Tall rectangular box?

Hi there,

I've used the pleated technique for wrapping gifts. It gives a nice
clean line and it's pretty secure. Even better, if you make the pleat the same
size as the underlying box that you are wrapping, it becomes very tricky to
work out how to unwrap it!
(I haven't published this as I assumed that it had probably been done.)

Thank you for the links. I don't see the photo view for the box inside.
Based on my implementation from the crease pattern the double layered
structure make the box surface clean both inside and outside. I learned
the bottom closing mechanism is frequently used in many commercial paper
bag or gift wrapping. The difference is the extra layer on the box provided
the pocket to hide the stick out flap and secure the lock without using
glue. I don't see the significance of using squared paper here. Am I
missing something?

I am not sure it has been done before. Someone could give you a better
answer. Having said that I have another idea of making pockets (thank you
for the inspiration) - pleating. The extra pleating could provide pockets
as needed. It can be used to to make a container, closed box, or gift
wrapping without tape. It is only in my mind, I have to try it in real
folding and will post photos sometime. I would love to know if it is
already published somewhere.

[Origami] Tall rectangular box?

2013-09-18 Thread Gerardo @neorigami.com
HI EVERYONE,

This one of those simple and obvious models that leaves me thinking. I came
up with the idea very recently (I can't beileve I had not thought about it
before). I'm really proud of the box; I love the fact that none of it's
sides are square despite the fact that you start from a square piece of
paper (I'm easy to amaze... haha). Being so simple and obvious maybe
someone else had already came up with the idea before me. I browsed a bit
through the web but I didn't see any similar boxes.

Do any of you know if this box already existed?

I really hope none of you have, but I think it's better to just know the
truth ; )

Best wishes!
