Very strange behavour
This is perhaps not an orion fault but it is very strange.. I am using o4j 1.0.2.2; my client is an applet using ie 5.5 and jre 1.3.0. Sometimes happens that the client (applet) can't retriveve a file from the o4j server, but the file in fact is always there, the url is correct and this behaviour is sporadic.. From my jre console: Opening http://172.22.8.83:/TitoliPers/communications.properties with cookie JSESSIONID=FJMHEGHCCCJF. java.io.FileNotFoundException: http://172.22.8.83:/TitoliPers/communications.properties at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin.protocol.jdk12.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(Unknown Source) at messaggi.CommunicationParameters.init(CommunicationParameters.java:30) at ambvis.AmbJApplet.init(AmbJApplet.java) at applet.AppletTitoliPersonale.init(AppletTitoliPersonale.java:210) at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) Looking in the log/default-web-app.log in o4j i have corresponding to this exception a bad request like this: 172.22.12.235 - - [30/Jan/2002:11:17:31 +0100] ET /TitoliPers/communications.properties HTTP/1.1 405 138 that is, instead of a GET request i have a ET request in the log, and so naturally the 405 error code. I dont know what to whink about this, especially because the error is sporadic.. p.s. applet is using the standard java.util.URLConnection to open the file..

R: webserver proxy plugin + i/o question
look to the site www.orionserversupport.com there are many useful articles and tips, including one on how to use Apache as a proxy to orionserver ie.e. apache serves the static html, while orion serves servlets/jsp and manages ejb invocations.. -Messaggio originale- Da: Lucio Piccoli [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Inviato: mercoledì 12 settembre 2001 11.13 A: Orion-Interest Oggetto: webserver proxy plugin + i/o question hi all, i am new to orionserver but i have read the docs and the archives relating trying to find information relating to: i) Webserver proxy plugins ii) The type of i/o handling used. A variety of appserver vendors (BEA/IBM) recommend an architecture of a high performance webserver ( iplanet/apache ) proxying on requests to the appserver. This has several benefits including limiting the exposure of the appserver to the outside world. I was hoping to eval orionserver in a similar environment. However the only mention of a webserver handling in orion is to use the tunnelling servlet which still seems to require the orionserver to be exposed to the outside world. Is this the case? What is the I/O mechanism used in orionserver's request handling? I assume that it is using java's blocking i/o, is this correct? any help appreciated. adios -lp [EMAIL PROTECTED] Titan Court 3 Bishops Square Business Park Hatfield AL10 9NE Hertfordshire England tel : +44 01707 289 798 fax : +44 01707 289 941 __ http://www.one2one.co.uk _ NOTICE AND DISCLAIMER: This email (including attachments) is confidential. R: Memory leak using session bean - how to make sure?
Ciao, Anch'io ho gli stessi tuoi problemi vedi miei precedenti messaggi.. Non ho scoperto come risolvere la cosa.. -Messaggio originale- Da: Diego Amicabile [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Inviato: mercoledì 5 settembre 2001 15.24 A: Orion-Interest Oggetto: Memory leak using session bean - how to make sure? Hi, I am trying to find out why the application we deployed on Orion has memory leaks. It happens since we created a stateful session bean, which is very big, which is associated with a HttpSession. How do I find out how many stateful session beans are running, since the console is buggy (always 0 instances , stateless session bean - happens also with the Cart example). I remove the session bean when the HttpSession is closed, but this does not seem to work. How can I know for sure that too many session beans are living and are not getting passivated / removed? What could be the reason for it? Greetings Diego __ Do You Yahoo!? Il tuo indirizzo gratis e per sempre @yahoo.it su http://mail.yahoo.it
max-instantces attribute in orion-ejb-jar.xml
Hi all, Is the attribute max-instances valid only for entity beans or for session beans too? for session beans it doesn't work for me. i put the orion-ejb-jar.xml in my myapp/ejbmodule/META-INF dir then create an .ear file and deploy the application but the max-instances attribute goes away from the deployed orion-ejb-jar.xml file.. - dott. Orion doesnt free memory after destroying anejb
Hi all, Is this a bug? orion doesnt free any memory after destroying a session ejb.. so eventually i go out of memory.. Setting a higher heap limit is not a solution, because you simply shift the problem.. Anyone noticed the same problem? I noticed a similar rpoblem with passivation.. it seems that orion never passivatess a bean.. I have read to put the max-instances attribute in orion-ejb.jar.. but i have not tired it yet.. - dott.
