Assalamualaikum & salam sejahtera. Untuk pengetahuan semua, sekarang ini sedang rancak perbincangan mengenai penubuhan *Koperasi Sumber Terbuka Malaysia Berhad (KOSTEM)*. Kita telahpun mempunyai nama rasmi (seperti diberitahu), motto (*Kebebasan. Keterbukaan. Komuniti.*), logo yang direka oleh Tuan ApOgEE (http://bit.ly/hMTz07), serta domain. Semua yang disebut -- kecuali logo -- telah dipilih melalui undian ke atas cadangan-cadangan yang diberi kurang lebih sebulan setengah perbincangan di milis KOSTEM. Masuk tahun 2011, akan bermula perbincangan -- yang saya kira kedua kritikal selepas pembentukan organisasi -- mengenai aktiviti dan perniagaan yang akan dilakukan oleh Koperasi setelah penubuhan rasminya. Aktiviti/Perniagaan juga telahpun disenaraikan, dan sebaik sahaja 2011 tiba, akan dibincangkan secara kritikal tentang cadangan-cadangan yang diberi, iaitu mahu menentukan tempoh masa dan hal-hal berkaitan setiap yang dicadangkan. Maaf, segala idea baru berkenaan aktiviti/perniagaan tidak akan dilayan/ditangguhkan dahulu, rasionalnya supaya tidak mengganggu apa-apa yang telah dipersetujui serta fokus terhadap idea sebelum. Namun sekiranya idea itu dilihat relevan dan punya alasan yang kukuh untuk dimasukkan, tiada masalah untuk dikemukakan. Jadi, saya menyeru tuan-tuan dan puan-puan (serta cik mek molek) agar menyertai kami di milis KOSTEM; brainstorming tentang idea-idea berkenaan aktiviti/perniagaan serta berbincang apa-apa sahaja mengikut thread yang telah disediakan (atau sekiranya mahu membuka thread baru, silakan). Juga saudara Syazwan telah mengaktifkan laman wiki untuk berkongsi idea dan pandangan. Semoga penubuhan KOSTEM menjadi realiti dan menjadi sejarah terhadap pembangunan FLOSS di Malaysia. Have you tried contacting anyone from Novell or SUSE and asking for the source for SLES? The source code must not necessarily be free as in cost mate. If you want the SLES/SLED binaries, by all means take it, pass it on. Novell is lukewarm to the idea of something like CentOS for SLES/SLED because of its position that openSUSE can fill that niche. If you want to create a CentOS-like version of SLES/SLED I can put you in touch with the right people. But please don't say you do not have access to the source if you have not at least tried to email someone in Novell. Happy New Year. Actually it depends on who you talking to. When I was working in the bank. There is sign of fixes for the program which written in cobol, for the Y2K bug. But then they are extremely prepared too.
