Katakan rakyat Malaysia yang berumur 18 tahun keatas dan telah bekerja
adalah 18 juta. Kalau LHDN nak hantar Borang Taksiran/EA form ataupun gentle
reminder, 18 juta darab dengan 50 sen, maka jumlah RM 9 juta. Itu baru LHDN.


Jadi kalau sesiapa yang rasa proposal, cuba call Tribute.. bagi solution.

Sebab masa mesyuarat NKRA aritu, sekarang ni kerajaan tak mau dah proposal
yang dalamnya kena buat RnD dulu, kerajaan hanya mau SOLUTION, yakni benda
yang dah tau jadi dan boleh pakai.

Seperti jugak LMS untuk MOE, diorang dah decide produk apa yang dipakai,
yang terbukti berjaya diEropah terutama diUK.

Moving forward, we need to do this. FYI ada satu lagi tender we need
to look into as one big consortium.

My Proposal

We need to combine our own resources from all aspect Project
management, Administration, technical, Financial and political.

The above suggestion will lead the need of one anchor individual or company.

For the above reason I want to propose KOSTEM as our anchor.

We need to firm on this, so we can move forward of preparation.

I think its definitely more than that. They probably will setup mail 
server farms in Malaysia (MS Exchange?) and create jobs etc.

The current web ui is just "parking".

Reasons of use or justification aside...ironically, the only locally 
developed mailserver (MailNow!) (not open source-repackaged)  wasn't 
even invited.

Hi,

On the surface, of course it looks simple.

But designing a system that can scale to millions of users cost money, a lot of 
them. It's getting to that point where scaling/cost ratio literally plateaus 
that makes the upfront seems so undesirable.

I think that using Microsoft's cloud infrastructure cuts down the know how of 
building a scalable system. Not by much but will make sense financially.

We all can argue till the cows come home on the validity of an OSS-based 
solution but in Malaysia at least, aside from Skali, who else have the will and 
the financial wherewithal to make this sort of infrastructure possible for the 
critical mass?

Let's not kid ourselves, building a high-scale infrastructure costs money. RM 
50 million over a 10-year period (as per Tricubes CEO statement) is actually 
quite reasonable CAPEX/OPEX assuming that's what he meant.

Having stated the above, I still believe that as citizen, this project is as 
bullshit a proposal as one can get.

Remember when LHDN requires a digicert key to conduct E-Filing back in the 
days? Eventually it costs so much hassle for everyone, they scrapped it and 
just use plain SSL key exchange.

Now an e-mail system that actually requires the same thing? Makes sense if 
you're in a controlled environment such as a company. But for the masses? 

Well, goes to say that idiots never learn.

But as I said earlier, you get to make money by prolonging the problem mah!

Happy ending for some. That's all that matters when all is said and done.

Lets we set aside issue whose who here. Lets we concentrate on how we
can counter back the offer with our own proposal.

Lets say the offer is open up again for us to counter proposal, what
can we as OSS community offer?

2 things that we need to resolve :-

1) We need to have a big company to support us and good business
model. Startup money who going to invest?

2) We need to use proven technology in OSS that we can build,
customize and support on our own.

Lets we discuss about this.
