Buku rujukan Bahasa Inggeris sukar cari makan katanya.

Kedai buku bertingkat-tingkat penuh dengan bahasa mereka sendiri :)

Mohon mencelah.
Saya dalam industri buku swasta dan sekarang kami ada membangunkan produk
buku IT.

Memang setakat ini kami hadapi pelbagai cabaran. Namun kami terus ingin
berusaha.

Menurut pakar bahasa dalaman kami (pakar
1,
pakar 2 ) tidak semua istilah
perlu diterjemah.
Ini kerana kadangkala terdapat istilah umum dan khas, jargon dan istilah
antarabangsa.
Perkataan-perkataan dalam bidang IT ini perlu dikategorikan dengan betul dan
kadangkala ia berfungsi sepertimana kita menggunakan formula sains dan
matematik.

Perkataan upload contohnya tidak diterjemah kerana ia adalah istilah global
dan semakin menyukarkan pengguna apabila diterjemahkan.
Terdapat juga perkataan yang hanya diitalic untuk pertama kali penggunaan
dan terus digunakan seperti biasa selepas itu.

Perkataan cakera liut misalnya, memang tidak digunakan kerana istilah ini
semakin menyukarkan dan kini ia seolah-olah telah pupus.

Dan sering terjadi istilah yang kami digunakan tidak seperti yang digunakan
oleh DBP (istilah IT).
Hal ini kerana kami mempunyai in-house style publishing tersendiri.

Itu ialah serba sedikit pengalaman berkenaan istilah ini. Semoga bahasa
Melayu terus berkembang dalam semua bidang.
