Clear your cache is always the first step with web page problems. How does Gmail implement their offline mail features? Gears isn't used any more, is it? In any case, after you clear your cache you still might have something separate from that cache that you need to clear too. That depends on how the offline functionality. In case you didn't know, to clear the cache, you have to use the Clear Recent History... menu item. I don't remember which menu it's under and I've modified my menus.
