saya pasang smuthwall tu untuk sambung 2 branch dengan HQ.
guna fungsi VPN, file-sharing, aplication sharing, firewall dan
view-InstantMessenger.

cara setup, setup kat HQ, kemudian burn ISO untuk setup kat branch.
Untuk install lat branch install aje ISO tuh terus OK, cuma kena tetapkan
akaun streamyx dan kalo tak nak guna DDNS, kena masukkan manual alamat IP
setiap branch dan HQ.

pasal password tu , dia reject password.
sedangkan password tu juga digunakan untuk login guna web

Untangle ada web filter yang boleh filter social networking. Saya pun guna 
OpenDNS sebagai DNS server sahaja tapi tak pakai pun filetring yang OpenDNS. 
Tapi tu la kalau enabled semua features Untangle berat jugak.
Saya rasa elok kita buat komuniti Untangle kat Malaysia secara rasmi dan 
berkongsi pengalaman masing2 dan knowledge.

ok...untuk wiring tu...saya kena confirm balik dgn pihak sekolah..
mungkin cari dana lagi..
biasa la..sekolah harian biasa ja..
hujung2 tahun pula..lagi...la budget kurang..

sy ni orang kedah...dekat ja dgn penang tu..
saya buat pun..kat tempat keja saya dulu.
Setiap perisian mesti lemah n kuatnya..terpulang pada pengguna n
komuniti..yang disekitarnya..
testing untangle dulu..sy rasa. untuk network kecil..ok la..
apapun..saya pun akan try juga..

sekiranya hendak dibandingkan dengan Clark Connect.. cara pemasangan nampak
sedikit rumit dan cara konfigurasi jugak pun nampak remeh... Nanti saya cuba
buat perbandingan pada hari pemasangan 28 atau 29 -10 ini..

ok cikgu.. amacam sudah dapat harga yang terbaik utk wiring ker?
perlu bantuan utk tarik cable.. rasa ada community sanggup turun sana.. bagi
duit minyak bagi tempat tidur semalam plus makan.. (kalu ada kambing.. mesti

slowdown during lunch time is common problem for broadband di sbbkan of the
bandwidth sharing. selalu nya time lunch orang kat office akan di beri
kelonggaran browsing. jadi kalau tengok traffic pattern memang time lunch /
petang dekat balik kerja and ada satu slot lagi malam (tapi kurang pasti jam
berapa) internet usage memang tinggi.

untangle setahu saya tak boleh menyelesaikan masalah ni sbb masalah ni
berlaku selepas keluar dari untangle. spt yg di suggest oleh bro bizkut,
caching boleh mengurangkan masalah ni.

however, dgn penggunaan untangle atau squid kita boleh buat traffic shaping
so that traffic ke eduwebtv ada high priority dari youtube etc. dlm
experience saya youtube ni memang selalu buat internet connectivity slow.

maybe ada orang lain boleh bg better suggestion.

dalam masa lebih 1 tahun untangle kami guna, ada sekali je dia meragam. itu
pun sebab hard disk failure (untangle heavy usage kat hard disk  & ram).
selain dari tu saya boleh kata untangle ni "set it and forget it".

untangle kat office kita org di gunakan sebagai:

1. border element / network gateway
2. web filter
3. protocol filter
4. spam labeller / filter
5. dan mcm2 lagi tapi tak ingat...

rencana untuk fasa 2 dalam penggunaan untangle untuk kami ialah site-to-site
vpn untuk connect remote branch dan allow login ke active directory. LAN
environment kami 99% windows and 1% mac.

tiap2 hari untangle and email kan a set of report untuk kita org review and
tengok kalau ada out of normal bandwidth behaviour/usage (selalu indicative
of outgoing virus attack / torrent / etc). free version boleh tengok report
untuk 1 minggu. nak lebih kena bayar subscription. some of the subscription
items tu bagus tapi sebab dia kira dalam dolar USD jadi melangkau budget
kita orang e.g. virus scanning at network border element.

configuration tak susah sangat, as long as cikgu jelas apa yang cikgu nak
buat in terms of network design.
