[osg-users] [forum] using a TV remote control

2012-03-08 Thread Helen Diez
Hi,

I'm trying to implement an OSG application using a TV remote control.
At the beggining I had my code prepared to detect keyboard events as follows:

AnimationEngine::keyboardEventHandler* keh = new
AnimationEngine::keyboardEventHandler();
keh-addFunction('a', AnimationEngine::keyboardEventHandler::KEY_DOWN,red);

Everything worked fine. The thing is the application's final device will be a
TV. So I need to make the application work, not with keyboard events, but with
the remote control buttons.

I'm using a IR receiver, everything seems to be well configured. When I press
red button on my remote, letter a is written, however my app. doesn´t seem
to detect it.

Any idea on why this may happen?? Any other suggestion on how to achieve this?

Thank you!

Cheers,

[osg-users] [osgPlugins] Write animation to mpeg or other video format

2012-03-08 Thread Zachary Hilbun
Hi,

I want to be able to animate a scene and then write the images to an image

Is this possible using OSG?

If so, is there any documentation on how to do it or is this just one of those
read the source code things?

Thank you!

Re: [osg-users] [osgPlugins] Write animation to mpeg or other video format

2012-03-08 Thread Vincent Bourdier

Hi,

Using osgDB::writeImageFile you can save an osg::Image to you hard
drive, the format available will be depending on the plugins you have.

To make this image, just use the viewer/camera to get the pixel buffer.

Or simply use the screenCaptureHandler, you can find it in the examples,
to obtain the base code to take screenshots.

Regards,
   Vincent.

Re: [osg-users] exception with cullVisitor-traverse(*_camera) after manually creating a geode

2012-03-08 Thread Robert Osfield
Hi Renato,

A trick we use in the OSG to prevent problems like this is to place
the destructor of the class into the protected or private sections,
these prevents these classes being allocated on the stack, forcing the
user to use new. I would recommend using this approach on your Mesh
class as this would have enabled the compiler to give you a warning
about your problem usage.

Robert.

Well good luck Robert!

Believe it or not my webpage at dglenn.com got its start and was hosted on
the first web server at csusb.edu. It was known as “www.csusb.edu/dglenn” at
the time. This came about when I got selected to be one of the lucky CS
students ether install, co-manage or publish materal on the first web server on
campus. This under the direction of Dr. Murphy who chared CS at the time.

It was the first public webpage at that University campus and it was only meant
to be a test for the server for a short time. However, I got to keep the result
of my efforts on-line for two years before it was closed. By that time I gotten
my own domain dglenn.com and I just copied my old stuff to there and moved on
with my life.

Oh, yea! The latest version of the webpage is under reconstruction right now as
it’s been for nearly six months now. I guess it will be finished when I can –
I’m so tied up with other stuff! However there still might be some remits of
the original webpage from Cal State kicking around some ware in a neglected
folder, I’m not sure where anymore! maybe some things are best left unfounded!
:)

Re: [osg-users] vertex attributes with integer types

2012-03-08 Thread Joel Skelton
Christian,

I looked into doing a quick fix based upon the type of the
vertex attributes but I decided that wouldn't be valid or safe.
The glVertexAttribPointer method that is currently used does
have defined behavior for when the vertex attributes are integer
types. Because of that there may be some existing code out
there that would be broken by just switching over to using
glVertexAttribIPointer based upon the type of the array.

The correct fix would require API changes that would
propagate up from State.cpp in order to provide a whole
different code path for specifying the integer types. Hopefully
this will get noticed and handled by the ninjas who make
such broad changes. Until then, I've done the int-float
conversion just like you. Not optimal, but it works.

thanks,
 Joel

Turn up the osg Notify debug level. Chances are OSG isn't finding osgdb
earth plugin, or that plugin isn't finding the osgEarth libraries it needs.
